Job Summary:

The Director of HSE, Quality and Training (M5) provides strategic leadership and direction for LRE’s enterprise HSE-QT function, driving a proactive safety culture, operational excellence, and regulatory compliance across all business units. This role partners with executive leadership to integrate HSE and quality into core business strategy while ensuring effective risk management and continuous improvement across construction and operations.

This leader will drive operational excellence, regulatory compliance, and organizational performance by fostering a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and proactive risk management while supporting evolving business objectives and operational priorities.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of LRE’s Health, Safety, Environmental, Quality, and Training (HSE-QT) programs and management systems.
  • Drive organizational compliance with applicable HSE regulations, standards, and corporate governance requirements across construction and operational activities.
  • Partner with regional and plant leadership to strengthen safety culture, operational excellence, and environmental stewardship.
  • Establish and monitor key HSE performance metrics aligned with corporate strategic objectives and operational priorities.
  • Oversees enterprise-wide training initiatives and develops competency-based training programs, ensuring workforce capability aligns with operational and regulatory requirements.
  • Lead and mentor a team of HSE-QT professionals, fostering accountability, engagement, and continuous improvement.
  • Leads enterprise HSE risk assessments, HSE-QT compliance audits, incident reviews, ensuring root cause analysis, effective mitigation strategies, and corrective actions are effectively implemented.
  • Manage HSE-related communications, reporting, and compliance matters for executive leadership and the Board of Directors.
  • Establishes and enforces contractor HSE management programs, ensuring alignment with LRE standards and contractual requirements, including oversight of contractor prequalification and ongoing compliance through platforms such as ISNetworld or equivalent systems.
  • Oversee departmental budgeting, resource planning, and strategic allocation of capital to support HSE-QT initiatives and long-term business objectives.
  • Develops and executes regulatory strategy, maintaining relationships with key industry bodies (e.g., American Clean Power) and regulatory agencies to ensure proactive compliance and industry alignment.
  • Lead QA/QC audit programs, evaluate findings, and implement process improvements to enhance operational performance and compliance.
  • Chair the corporate safety committee and provide strategic recommendations to executive leadership on HSE initiatives and risk mitigation.

Qualifications:

  • Certified safety professional or industrial hygienist or professional engineer. 
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Occupational Safety & Health or related degree
  • Demonstrated executive leadership and consulting capabilities with the ability to translate business strategy into scalable operational processes and systems that drive sustained performance.
  • Proven ability to lead, develop, and motivate cross-functional teams while effectively delegating responsibilities and optimizing workflow execution.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, presentation, and facilitation skills with the ability to influence stakeholders at all organizational levels.
  • Results-driven and decisive leader with a strong sense of urgency, accountability, and focus on operational excellence.
  • Advanced knowledge and practical experience in First Aid/CPR instruction and OSHA 10/30 training programs and compliance standards.

 Preferred:

  • 15+ years of experience in the energy business with preference given to a candidate with knowledge of the power generation and/or renewable energy business. 
  • Experience with automation and integration of (HSE) systems into other corporate systems
  • 5+ years of leadership in organizational training specializing in Occupational Safety & Health

Work Environment & Location:

  • Onsite in Dallas, TX Headquarters
  • Leading a team of 13 HSE-QT professionals, working in growing and fast-paced environment. 
  • Ability to travel up to 25% of the year 
  • Candidate must have the ability to climb wind turbines

Please Note: This is an in-office role, requiring on site presence in our office a minimum of three days per week with hybrid flexibility of working remotely two days per week, subject to manager and policy approval. #LIHybrid
