What you'll be doing

As Director, Enterprise Anti-Money Laundering (EAML) Advocacy, you'll play a pivotal role in shaping CIBC’s AML strategy through proactive regulatory engagement, industry advocacy, and strategic insight. You’ll collaborate closely with the VP, Strategy, Governance and Advocacy to represent CIBC in committees and forums, including interactions with government stakeholders such as FINTRAC and industry peer groups. Your expertise will help ensure CIBC’s AML program remains robust, adaptive, and compliant with evolving regulations. By establishing and nurturing relationships with regulators, industry partners, and internal stakeholders, you’ll drive advocacy initiatives that position CIBC as a leader in Canada’s AML regime. Your work will support CIBC’s vision for safe, sustainable growth and reinforce a strong risk culture across the organization.

How you'll succeed

  • Regulatory Intelligence & Analysis – Stay current on Canadian AML regulations and industry developments, reviewing draft documents and published reports to synthesize insights and prepare commentary for stakeholders.

  • Strategic Advocacy & Engagement – Represent CIBC in government and industry committees, forums, and peer councils, advocating for the bank’s position and contributing to industry-wide initiatives.

  • Program Alignment & Collaboration – Work with regional AML teams and cross-functional partners to align advocacy activities, bank positions, and goals, ensuring cohesive strategies across the organization.

  • Stakeholder Communication – Track, report, and communicate regulatory changes and industry trends to senior management, preparing analyses and presentation materials for internal and external audiences.

  • Leadership & Influence – Demonstrate leadership through mentorship, cross-functional influence, and advocacy, fostering an effective AML regime and strong risk culture within CIBC.

  • You have deep AML expertise. You bring at least 7 years of experience in Anti-Money Laundering, with a focus on regulatory requirements, governance, and policy in the Canadian financial services sector.

  • You’re a strategic communicator. Your exceptional verbal and written communication skills allow you to deliver complex information clearly and persuasively, including presentations to senior and executive audiences.

  • You’re a collaborative influencer. You build productive relationships with internal and external stakeholders, effectively influencing across varied backgrounds and priorities—even without direct authority.
