The Opportunity

This role is remote eligible in the continental U.S. with occasional business travel. However, individuals residing within a 60-mile radius of a USAA office will be expected to work on-site four days per week.

Director, Digital/Technical Product Management - Digital Commerce

We are seeking a transformative digital product and commerce leader who combines strategic vision with relentless execution. This individual has a track record of redefining customer experiences, challenging conventional approaches, and building the cross-functional alignment necessary to turn innovation into measurable growth.

This leader will sit at the intersection of customer needs, product strategy, technology, data, and innovation, creating digital experiences that accelerate acquisition, deepen engagement, and advance business outcomes. More than a product leader, this individual is a growth strategist who understands how to orchestrate product management, design, engineering, analytics, experimentation, and emerging technologies into a scalable digital growth engine.

The ideal candidate combines vision with execution. They are equally adept at shaping long-term strategy, influencing senior executives, partnering deeply with engineering and design teams, and delivering measurable improvements in digital sales and conversion performance. This role is about more than optimizing today's customer journey. It's about envisioning and building the next generation of P&C digital experiences. You'll help shape how AI-powered discovery, Generative Engine Optimization (GEO), Answer Engine Optimization (AEO), intelligent agents, conversational interfaces, and AI-enabled quote and bind experiences redefine digital commerce and acquisition. Working across Marketing, Technology, Analytics, Design, and Distribution, you'll create experiences that are intuitive, personalized, and trusted while delivering measurable business impact at scale.

What you'll do:
  • Attracts, selects, and develops a Digital / Technology Product Management team in the attainment of product and experience goals and objectives.
  • Manages day to day activities of the P&C Digital / Technology product management team or and actively manages resources to ensure optimal efficiency and effective delivery.
  • Responsible for P&C end-to-end technology and digital product management activities for a product portfolio, or product line or group, or a major market segment or ''''vertical'''' market.
  • Sets new Digital / Technology product strategies and leads team to define product strategy for a P&C product portfolio and oversees the development, analysis, and alignment of product strategy and roadmaps.
  • Applies product management expertise in state-of-the-art digital and technology domains.
  • Improves the P&C business outcomes of the team by injecting strategic and innovative thinking in digital and technology product and service solutions.
  • Guides teams in implementing data-driven methodologies across multiple channels, including emerging technology and mobility, to optimize end user experiences to drive KPI/KRIs.
  • Guides team in developing best-in-class practices, tools, and processes to collect data, member feedback, derive insights, and inform product decisions.
  • Leads team to effectively manage ambiguity, and influence others to drive clarity, solutions, and execution plan among team and stakeholders.
  • Collaborates with and influences senior leaders, Digital or Technology product managers, developers, vendors, designers and other stakeholders to ensure successful product strategies and product/ feature launches.


What you have:
  • Bachelor's degree; OR 4 years of relevant education and/or experience.
  • 8 years Digital/Technology Product Management experience, to include Digital/Technology experience in Strategy/Planning, Innovation, User Experience, Process Engineering, Analytics, and/or Research/Testing; OR an Advanced degree and 6 years of Digital/Technology Product Management experience, to include Digital/Technology experience in Strategy/Planning, Innovation, User Experience, Process Engineering, Analytics, and/or Research/Testing.
  • 3 years of direct team leadership
  • Demonstrated ability to think strategically, communicate effectively, and leverage and influence leadership and cross-functional teams to develop and execute product strategy.
  • Solid business acumen combined with strong technical and customer experience foundations.
  • Knowledge of Technology/Digital products and/or emerging technology platforms, applications, data analysis and research techniques, and standards.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in an Agile, Lean Product Development and Lean Portfolio Management environment.
  • Knowledge of digital and technology strategy and delivery as it relates to Experience Design concepts and Human Centered Design concepts, roadmap development, journey mapping, competitive analysis and research, and situation analysis methods.
  • Ability to excel in a dynamic environment with shifting priorities and a high degree of independence.


What sets you apart:
  • Experience leading digital commerce or digital product organizations within insurance, financial services, retail, travel, telecommunications, healthcare, or other large-scale consumer digital businesses is highly preferred.
  • Proven experience leading digital commerce, digital acquisition, or customer conversion initiatives for consumer-facing digital experiences.
  • Demonstrated success improving digital conversion, revenue, customer acquisition, or engagement through product and experience optimization.
  • Deep understanding of digital sales funnels, customer journey optimization, and conversion rate optimization (CRO).
  • Demonstrated ability to translate customer needs, analytics, and business priorities into scalable product capabilities.
  • Significant experience partnering with UX, UI, content strategy, and research teams.
  • Experience leading customer journey mapping and service design initiatives across digital and assisted channels.
  • Strong understanding of modern web platforms, digital architecture, APIs, and customer-facing technologies.
  • Experience defining product KPIs and using data to prioritize investments and measure success.
  • Interest and experience in AI-enabled customer experiences, conversational interfaces, personalization, recommendation engines, and emerging agentic AI capabilities.
  • Excellent executive communication and storytelling skills.
  • Strong strategic thinking balanced with a bias toward execution and delivering measurable business outcomes.
  • Exceptional ability to influence Marketing, Product, Technology, Design, Analytics, and Operations without direct authority.
  • Military experience gained through military service or gained as a military spouse / domestic partner


Compensation range: The salary range for this position is: $143,320 - $273,930

Compensation: USAA has an effective process for assessing market data and establishing ranges to ensure we remain competitive. You are paid within the salary range based on your experience and market data of the position. The actual salary for this role may vary by location.

Employees may be eligible for pay incentives based on overall corporate and individual performance and at the discretion of the USAA Board of Directors.
