Join our committed fully-remote team to support adult literacy in Canada!

About the role

The Director, Development and Fundraising contributes to the creation of the multi-year revenue strategy for the organization, and implements funding and fundraising activities to fulfill the strategy and ensure the sustainability of ABC's finances. You bring your extensive experience in strategic thinking, development, and fundraising, preferably in a non-profit setting, as well as deep knowledge of funder outreach and engagement.

Reporting directly to the Executive Director, you're passionate about networking and client relationship-building, and able to manage and reach milestones and targets.

This is a 5 day, 35 hour per week full-time role with flexible hours. Much of the work will need to be done during standard business hours, but we are able to accommodate a wide array of schedules that may require flexibility around work, school, care giving, or other responsibilities.

You will:
• Grow revenue streams from government and private sector funders
• Oversee and secure revenue streams from existing and new fundraising initiatives and giving campaigns
• Grow ABC's development pipeline, identifying new prospects and funding opportunities
• Ensure alignment of development and fundraising activities with ABC's Strategic Plan
• Meet with prospects, plan for funding submissions, and negotiate funding contracts
• In collaboration with other development staff, lead and contribute to the development of proposals
• Set funding targets and deadlines and contribute to the fulfillment of targets
• Engage ABC's Board of Directors in development and fundraising activities

Qualifications:

To excel in the Director, Development and Fundraising role, you will have:
• Strategic thinking, growth, and lead generation skills
• Demonstrated sales and negotiation skills and experience
• Strong data-driven decision-making skills
• Excellent communication and problem solving skills
• Professional interpersonal skills with a drive to take initiative

Education and Experience:
• Minimum 5 years in a similar role
• University or College graduate
• Experience writing, editing, and designing winning proposals and presentations
• Experience in conducting online and other research
• Experience working with and supporting remote teams (asset)

Contract: Full-time, 1.0 FTE, 12 months with the possibility of renewal

Compensation: $90,000 - $95,000 annually
