Full Job Description
Director, Data Product & Reporting

Reports To: Senior Director, Client Solutions

Location: Chicago, IL

Environment: Hybrid (onsite 2 days/week)

Status: Exempt; Salary

Purpose of Your Work:

The Director, Data Product & Reporting within Managed Services, is the business-side data product leader responsible for how Redwood structures, governs, and delivers the data products that power customer-facing analytics across Managed Services. This role owns the strategy for the standard customer reporting suite and the underlying data quality, cleanliness, structure, and governance required to make that reporting trusted, scalable, and repeatable.

This is not a pure business intelligence development role. It is the leader who translates customer commitments, operational workflows, solution design, and Managed Services strategy into a governed data and reporting architecture. Where business intelligence and IT teams build and maintain platforms, this role defines what customer-facing reporting should be, which data standards must support it, how data quality is monitored, and how reporting products are configured, documented, rolled out, and continuously improved.

This leader creates alignment across Client Technology, BI, Commercial Solutions, Operations, and Finance teams. The role ensures that customer reporting delivery is not disconnected from data quality ownership; the same leader who owns reporting strategy also owns the operating routines, configuration standards, and governance mechanisms that make the data complete, consistent, clean, and usable.

This position directly supports customer growth and retention, margin expansion through operating leverage, improved reporting reliability, and the structured data foundation required for scalable analytics, automation, and future AI-enabled use cases.

What This Role Owns:
  • Managed Services data product strategy: Defines the data product roadmap for Managed Services, including the standard data structures, KPI definitions, reporting logic, documentation, and governance routines required to support scalable customer analytics
  • Customer-facing reporting product ownership: Acts as product owner of the standard customer reporting suite, including dashboard strategy, enhancement roadmap, user documentation, release planning, rollout, training, and adoption across Managed Services
  • Data quality, cleanliness, and structure: Owns governance and monitoring of data completeness, cleanliness, consistency, and usability across systems and the customer base; drives repeatable routines to identify gaps, resolve root causes, and improve structured data capture
  • Reporting delivery platform strategy: Owns the delivery strategy across Redwood Insights, BI, automated Excel, Edge, Snowflake, and other customer reporting mechanisms, including guidelines for when customers receive standard reporting, minor configuration, or fully custom reporting
  • Business intelligence request governance and roadmap alignment: Serves as the approval point for customer-facing business intelligence requests requiring new development so work aligns with the larger customer reporting and data product strategy; minor tweaks, enhancements, and fixes to existing dashboards may continue to flow directly to BI
  • Customer-specific configuration model: Defines reusable configuration patterns and decision frameworks that determine how reporting is tailored by customer without creating unnecessary one-off reporting assets or disconnected data definitions
  • Implementation data readiness and solution design alignment: Partners with various departments to embed reusable system configuration standards and required data elements into customer onboarding, technology systems deployments, and operational processes
  • Commercial reporting alignment: Acts as the reporting SME and gatekeeper for custom development beyond the standard business intelligence suite or basic reports, ensuring customer-specific reporting requirements from commercial agreements or discovery are reflected in solution design and data capture
  • New customer data quality hyper care: Implements a repeatable hyper care process to assess new customer data quality, identify missing or inconsistent data, and partner with Operations, Client Solutions, and Business Operations to improve completeness and consistency across input flows
  • Automation and cost-to-serve improvement: Project manages migration from manual, spreadsheet-based, or Edge-based dashboard-style reporting to governed business intelligence or automated delivery platforms to improve reliability, reduce recurring effort, and lower cost to serve

  • Direct experience working with shipment-level data, TMS platforms, carrier performance metrics, financial reporting inputs, and customer-facing analytics
  • Proven ability to own a product roadmap, define standards, manage intake, and drive cross-functional alignment across business and technology teams
  • Strong understanding of data quality, data governance, KPI standardization, reporting logic, and operational workflows in a multi-client environment
  • Experience reducing manual reporting effort through automation, reusable reporting assets, and platform migration
  • Strong executive presence with the ability to influence account teams, Operations, Solutions, Commercial, Finance, BI, and technology stakeholders
