Job Description

We're seeking a future team member for the role of Director, Data Privacy, to join our Global Privacy Office team. This role is located in New York, USA.

In this role, you'll make an impact in the following ways:
  • Help shape and advance BNY's enterprise privacy management framework, program and operating model, including the design, enhancement and operationalization of privacy policies, procedures, processes, controls and tooling.
  • Lead privacy risk assessments, privacy by design activities, privacy training and awareness efforts, and support the investigation and remediation of privacy incidents.
  • Provide strategic privacy guidance to BNY Platforms and Hubs to help protect client and employee personal information while enabling responsible business and technology innovation, including AI.
  • Partner with key stakeholders to support the privacy aspects of enterprise-wide and business-specific change, drive timely compliance with evolving legal and regulatory requirements, and identify opportunities to modernize privacy processes and controls through the responsible use of AI, automation, and data-driven ways of working.
  • Monitor industry and regulatory developments, engage with relevant industry bodies, and contribute to BNY's external privacy posture, including ownership of the Trust Center.

To be successful in this role, we're seeking the following:
  • Bachelor's degree or the equivalent combination of education and experience, with 10+ years of relevant professional experience, including significant experience in a senior privacy role within a multinational organization.
  • Deep knowledge of privacy laws and regulations, particularly in the United States (e.g. HIPAA, GLBA, CCPA, CPRA), Canada, Brazil, Bermuda and the Cayman Islands.
  • Strong verbal, written, and presentation skills, with the ability to influence senior stakeholders, drive strategic execution, and operate effectively in a complex, highly regulated environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver high-quality work at pace in a dynamic environment.
  • Experience leveraging AI, automation or other emerging technologies responsibly to improve privacy processes, controls and outcomes.
  • Proven people leadership and talent-development capabilities, including coaching, prioritization and building high-performing teams grounded in accountability, collaboration and continuous improvement.

BNY assesses market data to ensure a competitive compensation package for our employees. The expected base salary for this position when employment commences can be found in the Job Info section at the bottom of the posting.

Base salary offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Base salary is only part of the total rewards package, which may include eligibility for an annual discretionary incentive award. Subject to the terms and conditions of the applicable plans then in effect, eligible employees may enroll in a 401(k) plan as well as participate in Company-sponsored medical, dental, vision, and basic life insurance plans for the employee and the employee's eligible dependents. Eligible employees also may receive other benefits (including various paid time off benefits, such as vacation and sick time), dependent on the position offered.
