How you'll have an impact at Paula's Choice: As the Director, Creative Operations, you'll play a pivotal dual role in owning both the operational execution of brand promotions & campaigns and overseeing the end-to-end production of photoshoot & video shoots. You'll be responsible for managing creative workflows, leading project timelines, and bringing visual content to life through studio and lifestyle shoots. You will drive operational excellence and accountability across the organization, leading high-impact cross-functional teams to deliver complex projects on time, within budget, and aligned with company goals. This role is essential to scaling our project management engine and driving operational excellence. It's perfect for someone who's passionate about storytelling in the beauty and skincare space-and equally at home managing timelines as they are on a shoot set.
As the Director, Creative Operations, a typical day might include a mix of the following:
Creative Project Management
- Lead multiple concurrent campaigns, including new product launches, seasonal collections, digital assets, email/social campaigns, and ecommerce updates
- Translate creative briefs into clear scopes, timelines, and deliverables using PM tools like Jira, Monday.com, or Smartsheet
- Drive project kickoffs, milestone reviews, approvals, and delivery across creative and marketing teams
- Collaborate cross-functionally with marketing, ecommerce, product development, and external vendors to ensure creative alignment with brand objectives
- Own weekly reporting, status updates, and flag risks or blockers early
Photoshoot Production (Editorial, Product, Lifestyle)
- Oversee freelancer who will produce photo and video shoots from concept to completion (in-studio and on-location)
- Manage casting and coordinate with talent agencies to ensure inclusivity and representation that aligns with brand values
- Oversee pre-production planning: call sheets, schedules, creative decks, shot lists, crew hiring, equipment booking, and studio/location logistics
- Ensure freelance producer will lead on-set operations to ensure smooth execution, creative integrity, and efficiency
- Manage post-production workflows including file handoffs, image selections, retouching, and asset delivery
Budget & Vendor Oversight
- Build and manage production and creative budgets; track spend and reconcile invoices
- Vet and manage external partners, including stylists, photographers, production vendors, and retouchers
- Negotiate contracts and maintain clear usage rights, licensing, and release documentation
Tool & Workflow Optimization
- Leverage project management software to increase transparency across creative deliverables
- Own digital asset organization, file versioning, and content management systems (e.g., Dropbox, Airtable)
- Contribute to continuous improvement of creative operations and production processes
The Details:
- Location: We're a Seattle based company and prefer candidates who are local to Seattle. However, we're open to remote candidates on the West Coast.
- Hours: Typical PST Business Hours, some flexibility
- Physical requirements: Ability to handle both sitting and screen time for long periods of time
What you'll bring to the table:
- 7-10 years' experience in creative project management and/or photo production within the beauty, skincare, or lifestyle industries
- Demonstrated success in leading large-scale project portfolios from concept to launch with full accountability for scope, time, and budget
- Deep understanding of content needs across ecommerce, social, retail, and influencer platforms
- Hands-on production expertise with both product and talent shoots
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, including vendors, agencies, and freelancers
- Experience using tools such as Jira, Monday.com, Smartsheet, Dropbox, Adobe Creative Suite, and Capture One
- Passion for the beauty/skincare industry and a keen eye for detail, aesthetics, and process

Approximate Salary Range Based on Experience and Location:
$145,000 - $160,000 USD/annually

Paula's Choice Skincare determines the pay for positions using local, national, and industry-specific survey data. We evaluate external and internal equity and the cost of labor/prevailing wage index in the relative marketplace for jobs directly comparable to jobs within our company. Our posted salary range is based on national data and may be refined for a candidate's region/town/cost of living.
For new hires, we strive to make competitive offers allowing the new employee room for future growth. The exact base salary is determined by various factors including experience, skills, education, geographic location, and budget. This position is also eligible for participation in the company discretionary bonus plan.
