The Director, Corporate and Internal Communications leads, workforce, board, and executive communications, ensuring clear, consistent messaging that informs employees, supports leadership, and strengthens organizational trust.

This role partners across Executive Leadership, People, Legal, Public Affairs, and business teams to manage enterprise messaging, change communications, board materials, and leadership visibility.

The role requires strong judgment, executive presence, and exceptional writing skills, including experience supporting external speaking engagements and helping manage speaker vetting for employees and senior leaders. This role reports to the Vice President, Communications and Public Affairs
Key Responsibilities:

Corporate Communications Strategy
  • Lead LA28's corporate communications strategy across internal, workforce, leadership, and stakeholder audiences
  • Develop message frameworks and communications plans for major business updates, milestones, and leadership announcements
  • Build and maintain a cohesive corporate narrative across channels and high-priority moments
  • Protect LA28's reputation through clear, timely, and well-governed communications

Internal & Workforce Communications
  • Lead internal and workforce communications that keep employees informed, aligned, and engaged
  • Develop communications for organizational updates, change initiatives, manager cascades, and leadership events
  • Help manage vetting and communications support for employee and leadership external speaking engagements

Board Member Communications
  • Develop board materials, briefing documents, and key messages in partnership with executive leadership
  • Ensure board communications are accurate, concise, and aligned with organizational priorities and governance needs
  • Prepare senior leaders for board meetings, executive sessions, and related stakeholder moments

Senior Executive Thought Leadership
  • Shape thought leadership for senior executives, including speeches, talking points, op-eds, and internal remarks
  • Provide strategic counsel and message development for high-visibility internal and external engagements
  • Support external speaking opportunities with message development and speaker vetting guidance

Team & Organizational Leadership
  • Lead cross-functional coordination across Executive Leadership, People, Legal, Public Affairs, and business teams
  • Manage communications processes, channel planning, and external partners to deliver high-quality work

Leadership Communications & Issues Management
  • Advise on sensitive internal and corporate issues with strategic, audience-appropriate messaging
  • Lead communications for change management, workforce moments, and leadership forums
  • Track communications effectiveness and refine messaging based on feedback and business needs
Background & Requirements:
  • Minimum 8+ years of experience in corporate, internal, executive, or public affairs communications, including Director-level leadership experience
  • Expertise in internal and workforce communications within a complex, matrixed organization
  • Experience developing board materials, executive messaging, and senior thought leadership
  • Experience supporting external speaking engagements and helping manage speaker vetting processes
  • Exceptional writing, judgment, discretion, and stakeholder management skills
  • Success leading teams and cross-functional communications in a fast-paced environment
  • Agency and in-house experience preferred
  • Commitment to inclusive communications and mission-driven work
  • An undergraduate degree in communications, journalism, public relations, marketing, business, English or a related discipline
  • Advanced degree or equivalent professional experience a plus

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
  • Available to work onsite in our Downtown Los Angeles-based office.
  • The majority of work will be conducted in an office setting, requiring extended periods of time using computers, phones, and other office equipment.
  • The LA28 office is an open floorplan working environment; employees must be able to work efficiently in an open cubicle environment.
  • Hours of work may vary, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, especially during peak event periods.
  • Perform other duties as required; the role will evolve over time and may include operational responsibilities during the Olympic and Paralympic Games.

The annual base salary range for this position is $126,000-182,000. The pay scale provided is the range that LA28 reasonably expects to pay as starting base compensation for this role. All LA28 compensation remains subject to final determination based on individual candidate qualifications, experience, or other reasonable criteria consistent with LA28's operational business needs and applicable law.
