Full Job Description
Cato Networks is searching for a Director, Content Strategy with deep knowledge of Cybersecurity and Enterprise Networking who can elevate the quality, consistency, and differentiation of our content while shaping thought leadership, editorial strategy, and narratives that strengthen Cato's market leadership. Reporting to the VP, Corporate Communications, this leader will partner closely with Communications and Marketing leadership, including the CMO, to translate company-level positioning and business priorities into a clear editorial agenda, helping determine which stories Cato should tell, where we have the credibility to lead, and how our content can stand apart in a crowded market.

The ideal candidate will strengthen how Cato plans and prioritizes content across announcements, campaigns, and thought leadership moments, helping teams determine the right mix of new, refreshed, repurposed, both gated and un-gated content, based on audience value, business priority, channel strategy, performance, and existing assets. They will partner across Corporate Communications, Product Marketing, Demand Generation, Brand, Social, Customer Marketing, Customer Advocacy, and executive stakeholders to guide flagship content, research-led storytelling, executive thought leadership, customer and partner narratives, campaign storytelling, and AI-driven discovery strategy.

What You'll Do
  • Build and evolve Cato's editorial strategy across marketing and communications, translating company-level narratives into a prioritized editorial agenda and calendar for major content, thought leadership, research, social amplification, and campaign storytelling.
  • Partner with marketing leadership on strategic narratives and business priorities, with leadership retaining ownership of final positioning and key tradeoffs.
  • Help determine what content Cato should create, update, repurpose, gate, ungate, refresh, optimize, or retire based on audience needs, business priorities, performance data, channel strategy, and the strength of existing assets.
  • Bring a strategic lens to major market moments, helping determine where Cato has the credibility, relevance, and opportunity to lead the conversation.
  • Own Cato's research and flagship content strategy, including annual reports, industry studies, signature thought leadership programs, and other major editorial moments.
  • Develop high-impact content and editorial assets, including thought leadership, executive bylines, research narratives, campaign messaging, web copy, and other strategic content that supports Cato's business priorities and market narrative.
  • Own content strategy for AI-powered discovery, including answer engine optimization, content structure, findability, and performance across emerging search and answer experiences.
  • Define what strong content looks like for Cato by creating standards, guidance, and decision frameworks for originality, credibility, point of view, audience relevance, measurable business value, and cross-functional consistency.
  • Partner with Product Marketing, Demand Generation, Customer Advocacy, Social, Brand Partnerships, and web/content stakeholders to ensure campaigns, product narratives, customer proof points, partner moments, and channel strategies connect to the broader editorial strategy.

Requirements
  • 10+ years of experience in editorial strategy, thought leadership, strategic content, corporate storytelling, journalism, or related roles, ideally in B2B technology, enterprise software, cybersecurity, networking, or cloud infrastructure.
  • Strong editorial judgment and writing skills, with the ability to identify what makes a story compelling, credible, and relevant to the audience.
  • Ability to quickly synthesize trends in cybersecurity, networking, and enterprise technology into differentiated narratives that resonate with technical and executive audiences.
  • Proven ability to develop strategic content for complex technical or business topics, including executive bylines, research reports, industry POVs, campaign narratives, web content, customer stories, or flagship thought leadership programs.
  • Experience translating company priorities, market trends, and executive perspectives into clear editorial strategies and high-impact content.
  • Strong cross-functional collaboration skills, with the ability to manage input and feedback across Communications, Product Marketing, Demand Generation, Brand, Social, Customer Marketing, and executive stakeholders.
  • Low-ego, team-oriented working style, with the confidence to assert a clear editorial point of view, respectfully challenge ideas, and influence without direct authority.
  • Analytical mindset, with the ability to use content performance, audience insight, and business context to guide recommendations in a fast-paced environment.

Cato provides a competitive salary and comprehensive benefits plan. Benefits for this role include health/vision/dental insurance, 401(k), stock options, Health Savings/Flexible Spending Accounts, flexible time-off, paid parental leave and disability benefits.
