Position Overview:
The Director of Commercial Management is a professional member of the Planning organization and reports to the Vice President of Planning & Allocation. This is an exempt, salaried position whose primary responsibilities are to drive the development of intentional, data-informed commercial decisions across activations, launches, loyalty program initiatives, promotions, and key business initiatives.

This role partners closely with Finance, Merchandising, Marketing, Planning to evaluate commercial opportunities, quantify trade-offs, and ensure alignment between creative ambition, financial goals, and inventory realities. As the first Commercial Planning role at Kendra Scott, this position will help establish new ways of working while supporting overall company initiatives.

Responsibilities:
Commercial & Promotional Planning
  • Support the development and evaluation of promotional and commercial strategies across channels
  • Partner cross functionally to define the purpose of promotions
  • Analyze promotional timing, depth and duration
  • Assist in establishing commercial guardrails

Scenario Planning & Business Insights
  • Build best/base/worst-case scenarios to support key commercial decisions and initiatives
  • Evaluate potential outcomes across revenue, margin, demand, and inventory under multiple scenarios
  • Clearly articulate risks, opportunities, and sensitivities tied to each scenario
  • Prepare clear, actionable insights for leadership


Cross Functional Partnership
  • Serve as a connector across Merchandising, Marketing, Finance, and Planning to ensure shared understanding of commercial assumptions and outcomes
  • Gain early alignment on key initiatives by partnering upstream in the planning and promotional process
  • Proactively surface risks, dependencies, and trade-offs to cross functional partners ahead of execution
  • Act as a trusted thought partner across teams
  • Support leadership alignment by translating cross functional perspectives into a cohesive point of view

Performance Measurement & Learning
  • Develop and maintain consistent methodologies for evaluating promotional and commercial performance
  • Track performance against stated objectives to assess effectiveness and inform future decisions
  • Identify trends and patterns in customer response, demand behavior, and promotional effectiveness
  • Partner with Planning and Finance to ensure post-event results are reflected in future assumptions and forecasts
  • Share clear, actionable insights with cross functional teams to support continuous improvement
  • Document learnings and best practices to build institutional knowledge over time
  • Support a test-and-learn mindset by helping teams evaluate what worked, what didn't, and why

Inventory & Risk Support
  • Identify early inventory risks
  • Ensure alignment with inventory availability


Our Ideal Candidate will have:
  • Bachelor's degree, Retail Merchandising or Business preferred, or equivalent work experience
  • 8-12 years' experience in retail experience for a high-growth company
  • A proven ability to break down larger initiatives into consumable achievable tasks to achieve departmental and company objectives
  • A solutions-oriented mentality with a data driven approach
  • Omnichannel allocation experience required (multiple brick and mortar stores + ecommerce)
  • High level of experience using Excel and other tools to analyze a business to drive results
