Job Summary

The Director, Commercial and Industrial (C&I) Growth, is responsible for driving growth and operational excellence for C&I customers. The Director ensures a seamless customer experience by aligning strategies across departments and leveraging cross-functional teams to meet business objectives.

The Director is responsible for integrating account development, program management, and technical solutions to deliver reliable, efficient, and predictable access to power. This includes prioritizing projects, managing capacity, mitigating risks, and ensuring the timely execution of solutions that address customer needs. Through proactive leadership, mentoring of vertical Strategic Partnership Managers, Program Managers, and Technical Advisors, and serving as the escalation point for critical customer and project issues, the Director ensures C&I customers receive comprehensive support and innovative solutions that drive their success.

This position is hybrid, working from your remote office and your assigned work location based on business need. The assigned work location will be within the PG&E Service Territory. May require 25% travel, including travel outside PG&E's service territory.

Reporting

The Director, Commercial & Industrial Growth reports to the Senior Director, Commercial Growth.

Job Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement growth strategies for C&I strategic customers, projects, and portfolios.
  • Create and execute value propositions to attract, engage, and drive growth with prospective C&I customers.
  • Achieve growth targets across existing and emerging C&I customers.
  • Establish and maintain monthly sales forecasts, including opportunity pipeline and probability analyses.
  • Improve Customer experience and satisfaction metrics for C&I segment/vertical.
  • Support the commercialization and go-to-market efforts for PG&E products and programs.
  • Lead and mentor vertical Strategic Partnership Managers, Program Managers, and Technical Advisors.
  • Coordinate efforts across policy, product, and operations teams to facilitate successful execution.
  • Serve as the escalation point for resolving high-impact customer and project issues.
  • Lead cross-functional initiatives to address challenges and drive growth for C&I customers.


Background Qualifications

Minimum:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration or job-related discipline or equivalent experience.
  • 8 years of job-related experience.
  • 8 years of progressive leadership experience.
  • 5 years of utility/construction/urban planning experience including experience with service planning, estimating, project management, technical customer service, and/or other relevant experience.


Desired:
  • Master's degree in job-related discipline or equivalent experience.
  • Demonstrated success developing and executing growth strategies for large commercial and industrial customers.
  • Deep understanding of electric utility operations, distribution planning, interconnection processes, infrastructure development, regulatory environments and Service Planning & Design.
  • Proven ability to lead through ambiguity, influence without authority, and drive outcomes across complex organizations.
  • Experience leading cross-functional teams and developing customer focused business strategies.
  • Strong strategic planning, organizational and communication capabilities.
  • Lean Six Sigma (LSS) certification, Green or Black Belt.

  • Expert knowledge of California Public Utility Commission and bargaining unit contracts.
  • Broad knowledge of electric utility construction, maintenance, resource planning, regulatory compliance, tariffs and safety best practices.

Compensation

PG&E is providing the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job. The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity.

We estimate the successful candidate hired into this role will be placed within the reasonable compensation range of $170,000 to $264,500. The decision will be made on a case-by-case basis. This leadership role is also eligible for an annual Short Term Incentive Plan (STIP) award, as well as the Long Term Incentive Plan (LTIP) grant.
