Job SummaryWe are currently seeking an experienced Director, Business Development (BD) to champion the growth of our Environment & Infrastructure (E&I) Business Unit (BU) within the Department of War (DoW). The E&I BU includes work supporting critical infrastructure, environment, research infrastructure, and energy. We are seeking a candidate with extensive experience and a successful track record of leading and executing the business development lifecycle and client engagement.
Responsibilities - Pipeline: Develop and manage multi-billion-dollar pipeline with goals related to awards, submits, and qualified pipeline. Maximize Pwin for top opportunities. Drive volume, velocity, variety, veracity, and value of pipeline by identifying, qualifying, capturing, and submitting quality opportunities aligned to the E&I strategy.
- Client: Develop and maintain relevant and influential relationships with government clients, focused on DoW accounts. Implement best practices for client organization mapping, call plan development, and targeted client conversations.
- Strategy: Partner with E&I BU on market and DoW client relevance, on an ongoing basis. Evangelize voice-of-customer by identifying and developing new/adjacent markets/clients. Maintain awareness and communicate movements pertaining to competitive landscape.
- Process: Operational excellence in business development processes, best practices, and culture, and Customer Relationship Management (CRM) pipeline data. Utilize Microsoft PowerBI as an additional mechanism to quantitatively track pipeline progress.
Key Qualifications - Bachelor's degree, at a minimum. Master's degree in business or a related field, preferred. Over 10 years of relevant experience and demonstrated experience in winning new business with DoW.
- Existing network of clients in relevant government agencies and the ability to immediately leverage relationships to identify and pursue strategically aligned new business opportunities.
- Demonstrated ability to organize and motivate a business developments team and BU partners.
- Experience and knowledge of government acquisition procedures and timelines.
- Proven track record winning opportunities with government clients.
- Competitor knowledge in our E&I market space.
- Proven track record managing multi-billion-dollar pipeline of opportunities.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a government security clearance; U.S. citizenship required.

Compensation Data Battelle is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. The base compensation range for this role is $154,500 - $220,200, in addition to eligibility for an annual short term incentive compensation target and comprehensive benefits package. A candidate's salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to education, relevant work experience, skills, and certifications. Salary ranges may vary based on geographic location and market conditions.
