Full Job Description
LA28 does not provide relocation assistance for any positions. If you are based outside the Los Angeles area, we still welcome your application - we value talent from all geographic backgrounds and want to hear from you if you are able to work on-site in LA.

Role Purpose

As Director, Bus Services, you will establish the infrastructure, facilities, technology, utilities and supplier services behind Olympic and Paralympic bus operations. Reporting to the Senior Director, Bus and Fleet Operations, you will shape depots, fueling and charging, and workforce support from the ground up, making sound calls with incomplete information and enabling partners to deliver together.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead delivery of the infrastructure, technology, utilities and support services behind LA28 bus operations, coordinating with the Games Transport Program Integrator (GTPI), public agencies, operators and suppliers.
  • Establish temporary and permanent bus depots - staging, maintenance, fueling or charging infrastructure and workforce facilities - and coordinate their design, permitting, operational technology, power, water and other critical utilities.
  • Develop scopes of work, service specifications and procurement documentation, then evaluate proposals, negotiate commercial arrangements and manage contractor performance.
  • Confirm workforce facilities meet safety, accessibility and fire and life-safety requirements, with inclusive and Paralympic design.
  • Lead testing, commissioning and readiness exercises, then build and lead the Bus Services team through Games-time delivery and the Olympic-to-Paralympic transition.

Required Competencies
  • 8+ years of progressively responsible experience across bus operations, transport infrastructure, fleet support, logistics or major-event operations, including leadership. Alternatively, a Master's degree and 6+ years of relevant experience, or 10+ years of specialized professional experience.
  • Strong understanding of bus depot planning, fleet maintenance, fueling or charging infrastructure, utilities and workforce-support services.
  • Experience developing scopes of work, service specifications and procurement documentation, and evaluating supplier proposals, negotiating commercial arrangements and managing contractor performance.
  • A track record leading operational readiness, testing, commissioning, risk management and budgeting.
  • Bachelor's degree in Transportation, Logistics, Engineering, Facilities Management, Project Management or a related field preferred.

Valued Experience
  • Professional certifications - PMP, transportation, facilities management, procurement, safety or contract management - are an asset.
  • Olympic, Paralympic, major-event, public transport, charter-bus, motorcoach or large-scale fleet experience.
  • Experience with temporary infrastructure, operational overlay and electric-vehicle charging.

What We Offer
  • A historic opportunity to help deliver the Olympic and Paralympic Games.
  • Visible ownership of enabling services that thousands of athletes and workforce depend on.
  • Broad exposure across transportation, procurement, technology and live operations.

What This Role Means for the Games

Bus operations move athletes, workforce and officials between venues, villages and depots across the Games. The services you establish let those buses run reliably and on time.

Physical Requirements & Working Conditions
  • Available to work onsite in our Downtown Los Angeles-based office.
  • The majority of work will be conducted in an office setting, requiring extended periods of time using computers, phones, and other office equipment.
  • The LA28 office is an open floorplan working environment; employees must be able to work efficiently in an open cubicle environment.
  • Hours of work may vary, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, especially during peak event periods.
  • Perform other duties as required; the role will evolve over time and may include operational responsibilities during the Olympic and Paralympic Games.
  • Able to work across office, depot, construction and venue environments.
  • Willing to work extended hours during peak delivery periods.
  • Able to travel regularly between depots, venues and supplier facilities.
  • Able to work effectively outdoors with noise, traffic and large workforces.
