We are seeking a Director of Brand & Communications to lead brand strategy, communications, public relations, and cultural marketing for a well-established global digital platform that helps creators bring ambitious ideas and projects to life. This is a highly visible leadership role for someone who understands how brands earn relevance-not only through traditional communications, but by participating meaningfully in the cultural conversations, creative movements, partnerships, and moments that matter to their audiences. Reporting to the Chief Marketing Officer, this person will help define how the organization shows up in culture and how creators, consumers, media, industry leaders, and the broader public understand its brand, products, mission, and impact.

The ideal candidate is a culturally fluent brand and communications leader who understands what is capturing attention now, can anticipate what is coming next, and knows how to translate those insights into compelling narratives, campaigns, partnerships, experiences, and earned-media opportunities.

This leader will also serve as the organization's senior in-house communications lead and primary strategic partner to its external PR agency.

What You'll Do
  • Identify emerging cultural conversations, creative movements, trends, and timely opportunities where the brand can play a credible and distinctive role.
  • Develop bold, relevant ideas and quickly mobilize internal teams and external partners to turn them into campaigns, partnerships, experiences, and stories.
  • Shape and articulate compelling narratives around the organization's brand, business, products, creator community, and broader cultural impact.
  • Lead proactive media relations and build meaningful relationships with influential journalists, editors, creators, cultural leaders, tastemakers, and industry voices.
  • Develop a consistent pipeline of stories and cultural moments that strengthen visibility across major business, technology, culture, entertainment, and creative-industry media.
  • Serve as the senior day-to-day leader for the organization's external PR agency, providing strategic direction, challenging and improving ideas, establishing priorities, and ensuring measurable accountability.
  • Advise senior executives on corporate positioning, executive communications, reputation management, and emerging communications issues.
  • Partner closely with Growth, Product, Content & Editorial, Social, Partnerships, Community/Outreach, and other cross-functional teams to ensure the brand tells a consistent and compelling story across audiences and channels.
  • Lead integrated brand and cultural programs from initial insight and strategy through execution, amplification, and measurement.
  • Develop goals, KPIs, and measurement frameworks that connect communications and brand-building efforts to awareness, reputation, audience engagement, and business growth.
  • Help establish how brand equity, share of voice, earned media, cultural relevance, and full-funnel campaign performance are measured.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team while fostering a culture of creativity, collaboration, urgency, strong judgment, and excellent execution.

What We're Looking For
  • Significant senior-level experience across brand communications, public relations, cultural marketing, earned media, or integrated brand strategy.
  • Demonstrated experience leading communications or brand strategy for a recognizable consumer, technology, entertainment, media, creator-focused, cultural, or digital platform brand.
  • Exceptional cultural fluency and a strong understanding of the ideas, people, communities, platforms, and movements shaping contemporary creative culture.
  • A track record of identifying opportunities and turning original ideas into campaigns, earned-media stories, cultural moments, partnerships, activations, or experiences that generate meaningful attention.
  • Deep relationships with major media outlets, influential journalists, editors, creators, cultural connectors, and industry leaders.
  • Strong storytelling ability with the judgment to make complex business, product, cultural, and corporate topics understandable and compelling.
  • Experience developing both brand-level and corporate communications narratives.
  • Extensive experience managing PR agencies and outside partners, including setting strategy, providing creative direction, establishing expectations, and holding partners accountable for results.
  • Experience working directly with senior executives and advising leadership on positioning, communications strategy, reputation, and sensitive or emerging issues.
  • Ability to move comfortably between long-term brand building and fast-moving cultural opportunities.
  • Strong cross-functional leadership skills and the ability to influence and create momentum across teams without relying solely on direct reporting relationships.
  • Experience developing measurement frameworks around brand equity, share of voice, earned media, awareness, engagement, and full-funnel marketing performance.
  • Genuine respect for creators, creative communities, independent ideas, and the audiences that support them.

The Ideal Background

This position may be particularly well suited for someone who has held titles such as:

Strong candidates may come from consumer technology, digital platforms, media, entertainment, music, gaming, publishing, creator economy, arts and culture, design, or other brands with a meaningful presence in contemporary culture.

What You'll Enjoy
  • A fully remote working environment with opportunities to build relationships with colleagues across locations.
  • Comprehensive employer-supported health benefits.
  • Paid vacation, sick time, company holidays, and an annual winter company break.
  • Paid volunteer time to support causes and communities that matter to employees.
  • Generous parental leave and family-planning resources.
  • Employer contributions to a 401(k) retirement plan.
  • Annual stipends supporting remote work, wellness, professional development, and role-related growth.
  • A company culture that strongly values work-life balance and currently operates on a four-day workweek.
  • The opportunity to work alongside talented people who bring their own creative interests and perspectives into their work.
