OverviewMars United Commerce is seeking a Director, Analytics. The Director, Analytics will lead a team of analysts and manage analytics projects to ensure the delivery of high-quality insights that support and advance business objectives. This role requires strategic vision, strong leadership, and deep expertise in data analytics and reporting and reporting methodologies.
Candidates must reside within a commutable distance of our New York or Chicago office for a hybrid work schedule.PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:- Uphold and implement the strategic vision for the Analytics function.
- Collaborate with cross-functional leaders to identify areas of opportunity for Analytics growth within clients and new business prospects.
- Lead and manage a group of Analysts, providing mentorship, guidance, and professional development opportunities.
- Support department leadership with annual 1YP.
- Support and sign off on the recruitment of less experienced team members.
- Collaborate with senior stakeholders to understand business requirements and translate them into actionable analytics projects.
- Provide hands-on oversight and support for critical, time-sensitive analytics deliverables, including performance deep dives, KPI investigations, and executive or client-requested analyses.
- Oversee the execution of data analysis projects, ensuring timely and accurate delivery of insights.
- Oversee, develop and optimize data models by processing, analyzing, and extracting data from various internal and external media sources.
- Lead and support annual planning initiatives with clients.
- Ensure the accuracy and quality of all data, reports, and visualizations through rigorous QA processes.
- Maintain a collaborative approach to teamwork and problem-solving.

- Synthesize performance and learning across retailers, tactics, and partners to develop cross-retailer points of view, implications, and optimization recommendations.
- Audit advertising campaigns, troubleshoot performance issues, and track and report on performance and KPIs.
- Provide consultation and advise Commerce Media planning and buying teams on retail media campaign performance, plan optimizations, and recommendations.
- Partner with the Commerce Media team to discuss advertising performance, campaign insights, and recommended optimizations with clients.
- Support the development of data-backed retail data clean room reporting for the agency's retail media practice.
- Lead and oversee data collection and analysis for retail media DSP and search campaigns to drive clients' business goals.
- Develop and lead high-stakes client presentations.
- Communicate findings and recommendations effectively to stakeholders.
- Ensure compliance with data governance and security policies.
- Continuously improve retail media analytics product and service offerings.
- Maintain relevant marketing certifications and stay informed of marketing trends and tools.
- Lead and assist in knowledge sharing through internal communication events, training, and other written materials.
- Monitor industry standards, guidelines, and best practices, including IAB and retailer measurement updates, and translate them into applied analytics frameworks and client recommendations.
- Attract, retain, and develop top analytics engineering talent, ensuring the team maintains a diversity of skills, backgrounds, and experience.
- Lead the recruitment of less experienced team members.
- Support wider agency initiatives.
- Support the creation of white papers, agency "points of view" blog posts, etc. on data engineering topics.
- Support new business RFP and pitching efforts, as required.
- Foster a culture of continuous learning and innovation within the Analytics team.

SKILLSETS REQUIRED:- Bachelor's/Master's degree in Data Analytics, Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or a related field.
- At least 10-15 years of experience in data analysis and analytics management.
- Strong leadership capabilities to manage and mentor the analytics team, to recruit and retain talent.
- Excellent project management skills to handle multiple high-priority projects and meet deadlines.
- Superior communication skills to convey complex data insights to non-technical and senior stakeholders.
- Be a confident presenter and clear, persuasive communicator (verbal and written).
- Strategic thinking to develop and implement effective analytics strategies.
- Proficiency in SQL, Python, or R for data querying and manipulation.
- Demonstrable track record of innovating in the analytics field.
- Expertise in data visualization tools such as Tableau and Power BI.
- Strong statistical analysis skills to derive actionable insights from data.
- Proficient in data modeling to structure and organize data effectively.
- Excellent story-telling capabilities.
- Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and big data technologies.
- Strong experience with data governance and security protocols.
- Demonstrated success in leading marketing analytics methodologies like Multi-Touch Attribution (MTA), Audience Development, Clustering, Markov Chain analysis, etc.
- Experience with retail media platforms such as Amazon, Walmart, Target, Kroger, Criteo, Citrus, and third-party API partners (SKAI, Pacvue, etc).
- Strong technical understanding of a range of marketing concepts such as first-party and third-party cookie-based data collection, developing and activating audience segments from digital analytics and data management platforms.
- Experience in reporting and analytics within the retail/shopper marketing domain, interfacing with senior/executive stakeholders.
- Familiarity with and experience in adhering to data governance and security protocols.
- Proven track record of driving business results through data-driven decision-making.
- Experience and positive track record in mentoring and developing junior team members.
- Collaborative mindset to work seamlessly with creative, strategic, and client-facing teams.
- Critical thinking to analyze data and derive meaningful marketing insights.

Compensation Range: USD $135,375.00 - USD $216,684.00/Annually. This is the pay range the Company believes it will pay for this position at the time of this posting. Consistent with applicable law, compensation will be determined based on the skills, qualifications, and experience of the applicant along with the requirements of the position, and the Company reserves the right to modify this pay range at any time. Temporary roles may be eligible to participate in our freelancer/temporary employee medical plan through a third-party benefits administration system once certain criteria have been met. Temporary roles may also qualify for participation in our 401(k) plan after eligibility criteria have been met. For regular roles, the Company will offer medical coverage, dental, vision, disability, 401k, and paid time off.
