Full Job Description
As the Director, you will be responsible for leading and overseeing the regional cost and pricing aspects of the Airfreight services, including pre/post and ancillary charges while managing the Airfreight Competency Center within Americas. This role demands a seasoned professional with a deep understanding of airfreight logistics, a strategic and analytical mindset, and excellent leadership skills. The incumbent will play a pivotal role in developing and implementing airfreight strategies, optimizing pricing processes and ensuring the highest level of service delivery to meet the company's objectives. In addition, this function will be the liaison with neighboring internal departments WAT, Air Freight Operations, Sales, Shared Services Centers as well as outside vendors. All in support of the Director Air Freight Competency Center Worldwide. Key Responsibilities: Leadership: Implement the regional airfreight strategy in alignment with the overall business objectives. Lead the regional Air Freight Competency Center team, ensuring a cohesive and high-performing unit. Manage day-to-day operations of the Air Freight Competency Center, ensuring efficiency, accuracy, and adherence to industry best practices. Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance processes, reduce costs, and improve service competitiveness. Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including vendors, and internal teams. Pricing Strategy Development: In coordination with Global Director of ACC and Regional VP Airfreight, define and implement comprehensive pricing strategies to maximize revenue and increase market share, including airfreight services, pre/post-carriage and ancillary charges. Outline and execute projected rate structures based on market trends, competitive landscape analysis keeping in consideration industry opportunities and threats. Manage and continuously optimize the regional GP Matrix, incorporating country feedback, profitability analysis, win/loss data, and market intelligence to drive yield and margin improvement. Market Analysis: Conduct regular market research to stay informed about industry dynamics, regulatory changes, and emerging trends. Evaluate the impact of economic factors, geopolitical events, and other external influences on pricing strategies. Monitor and analyze competitor pricing structures and strategies to ensure competitiveness. Recommend adjustments to pricing models based on market intel. Collaboration with Stakeholders: Work closely with sales, procurement and operations teams to understand business requirements and align pricing strategies with overall company goals. Collaborate with regional offices and partners to ensure consistency and alignment in pricing structures. Talent Development: Recruit, train, and develop a high-performing team, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous learning. Conduct regular performance reviews, provide feedback, and identify opportunities for career growth within the team. Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) Management: Establish and monitor KPIs to measure the performance and success of the Airfreight Competency Center. Implement data-driven decision-making processes to steer improvements. Requirements: Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business or a related field. Master's degree is a plus. 8+ years in airfreight operations and management experience focused on business development, commercial and operational leadership. Highly analytical, self-driven profile with strong commercial acumen and a proven ability to leverage data, market intelligence, and business insights to drive strategic decision-making, operational excellence, revenue growth, and profitability improvements. Demonstrates a proactive, ownership-oriented mindset with the ability to independently identify opportunities, lead change initiatives, and deliver results in a complex global environment. Strong leadership and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence and motivate a diverse team across the region. In-depth knowledge of international airfreight regulations and ability to explain complex topics impacting the airfreight industry. Proven track record of implementing process improvements and achieving operational Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
