Role

The Director of Data Delivery leads and empowers the teams responsible for the end-to-end, Agile delivery of data solutions and data products on the Azure/Databricks platform for International Banking, serving all business lines. This role owns delivery across the full lifecycle-data ingestion, provisioning, engineering, and productization-while ensuring strong governance, regulatory compliance, and strategic alignment. The Director provides senior leadership to Agile Delivery Managers, Project Managers, and cross-functional engineering teams, and partners with architecture, platform, and business stakeholders to scale a consistent, reusable Azure/Databricks delivery model across all International Banking markets and business lines.

What will we expect from you?

  • Delivery of Solutions & Data Products on Azure/Databricks: Lead the Agile, end-to-end delivery of data solutions and data products-pipelines, Delta/Lakehouse datasets, analytics platforms, and reporting tools-built on Azure/Databricks for all International Banking business lines, ensuring engineering best practices, reusability, and alignment with business objectives.
  • Azure/Databricks Platform Enablement: Partner with architecture and platform teams to establish and scale Azure/Databricks workspaces, Unity Catalog, and declarative/Lakeflow pipelines as the standard delivery foundation, driving a consistent, secure, and cost-efficient operating model across all International Banking markets and business lines.
  • Governance and Compliance: Ensure all data products and initiatives adhere to international banking regulations, data governance frameworks, and internal compliance policies, maintaining the highest standards of security and regulatory compliance.
  • Management of Data Delivery Projects Across All Business Lines: Direct and manage data provisioning, ingestion, and product-delivery initiatives spanning every International Banking business line, coordinating resources, timelines, and deliverables to achieve strategic goals on the Azure/Databricks platform.
  • Leadership for Agile Delivery Managers: Lead, mentor, and develop Agile Delivery Managers, fostering a high-performing, collaborative culture and driving professional growth.
  • Leadership for Data Project Managers: Provide strategic direction and support to Project Managers, ensuring effective project execution and alignment with organizational priorities.
  • Data Strategy and Planning: Shape and execute the data strategy, leveraging emerging technologies and industry trends to enhance banking operations and maintain a competitive edge.
  • Support for Data Ops, Data Ingestion, and Data Provisioning Teams: Collaborate with Data Ops, Data Ingestion, and Data Provisioning teams, providing planning and facilitation services to optimize Azure/Databricks workflows (CI/CD and DataOps), resolve impediments, and enable seamless, reliable delivery across all business lines.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Act as the primary point of contact for senior stakeholders, translating business needs into actionable data initiatives and ensuring expectations are met through clear communication and robust reporting.
  • Performance Metrics and Continuous Improvement: Define and monitor KPIs (delivery velocity, data quality, team productivity, stakeholder satisfaction) to drive process optimization and operational excellence.
  • Innovation: Champion a culture of innovation, leveraging Azure/Databricks capabilities-Lakehouse architecture, Delta Lake, and AI/ML-to deliver impactful, scalable data solutions and products for International Banking.


What You Will Bring to Succeed

Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Information Technology, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Master's degree (e.g., MBA, MS in Data Science) or advanced certifications (e.g., Certified ScrumMaster (CSM), SAFe Program Consultant (SPC), PMP) strongly preferred.


Experience:
  • Minimum 10 years of progressive experience in Agile project management, data product delivery, and data strategy within banking or financial services.
  • At least 5 years in a senior leadership role overseeing Agile Delivery Managers, Project Managers, and cross-functional data teams.
  • Demonstrated success delivering data solutions and data products on Azure/Databricks (Delta Lake, Unity Catalog, pipelines), including leadership of Data Ops, Data Ingestion, and Data Provisioning functions.
  • Proven track record of implementing governance and compliance frameworks for data products, ensuring adherence to international regulations (e.g., GDPR, Basel III, MiFID II).
  • Extensive experience engaging with C-level stakeholders, translating business needs into actionable data initiatives, and driving stakeholder alignment.
  • Strong background in planning and facilitation services for technical teams, optimizing workflows, and resolving impediments.


Skills & Competencies:
  • Expert knowledge of Agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban, SAFe) and modern data engineering on Azure/Databricks, including the Lakehouse architecture, Delta Lake, Unity Catalog, declarative/Lakeflow pipelines, ETL/ELT processes, and data governance.
  • Exceptional leadership and mentoring abilities, with a focus on developing high-performing Agile Delivery Managers and Project Managers.
  • Strategic thinking and planning skills, with the ability to shape and execute data strategy and drive innovation.
  • Advanced stakeholder management and communication skills, capable of influencing senior executives and global teams.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills in complex, high-pressure environments.
  • Proficiency in Agile and DevOps tooling (Jira, Confluence, Azure DevOps, CI/CD) and Azure/Databricks technologies (SQL, Python, PySpark, Delta Lake, and cloud-native services).
  • Deep understanding of performance metrics (KPIs) for data delivery, team productivity, and stakeholder satisfaction.
