Director, Advanced Metering Infrastructure Operations (AMIO) & Analytics (Non-Union)

Full-time, 35 hours/ week, Hybrid

Location: Brampton, ON (Kennedy Road)

Status: This position is to fill a current vacancy

Salary Grade: 20 ($176,982- $221,228 annually)

What you'll do

Strategic Leadership & Operational Excellence
  • Develop and execute long-term AMI Operations and Analytics strategies aligned with corporate objectives and Alectra's Smart Grid 2.0 strategy.
  • Provide leadership for meter interrogation operations, including network communication systems, AMI meter reading, MV90, meter data management, validation, and related technologies.
  • Lead the ongoing evolution of AMI Operations to meet customer, operational, and organizational needs.
  • Translate organizational priorities into annual business plans, budgets, and operational objectives.
  • Assess operational risks and implement solutions that protect the financial and regulatory integrity of meter data processes.
  • Recommend and implement improvements to policies, procedures, and operational practices to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.

Meter Data, Analytics & Innovation
  • Lead the implementation of new AMI technologies, advanced analytics, and data-driven solutions.
  • Support the development of innovative meter data use cases that enhance customer experience, operational performance, and grid modernization initiatives.
  • Champion the use of analytics and emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence tools, to derive value from large and complex datasets.
  • Lead meter data quality assurance initiatives that promote continuous improvement and data integrity.
  • Establish and monitor key performance indicators related to meter data and customer information systems.

Regulatory Compliance & Risk Management
  • Ensure compliance with applicable legislation, regulations, industry codes, and reporting requirements.
  • Lead the development and maintenance of regulatory policies, processes, and controls related to meter data operations.
  • Oversee internal and external audits related to meter operations, including areas such as revenue assurance, unbilled revenue, Green Button initiatives, and rate programs.
  • Ensure service delivery aligns with contractual obligations, service level agreements, and regulatory expectations.
  • Maintain a strong understanding of industry requirements and emerging regulatory changes.

Leadership & People Development
  • Provide leadership, coaching, and development opportunities to leaders and employees within the AMIO function.
  • Foster an inclusive, collaborative, and high-performing team environment that supports engagement, growth, and continuous learning.
  • Ensure teams possess the skills, competencies, and resources required to meet current and future business needs.
  • Lead workforce planning, talent development, succession planning, and performance management activities.

Stakeholder & Relationship Management
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Support the resolution of complex customer, regulatory, and stakeholder issues.
  • Represent the organization with industry organizations, regulatory bodies, government agencies, municipalities, and external partners.
  • Respond to high-profile concerns and inquiries involving customers, regulatory agencies, and other stakeholder groups.

Project & Financial Management
  • Lead departmental projects and strategic initiatives to ensure successful delivery within approved timelines and budgets.
  • Develop and manage departmental budgets and financial plans.
  • Monitor operational performance and implement corrective actions where required.
  • Oversee vendor relationships, outsourced services, and third-party agreements to ensure effective service delivery.

  • Ensure compliance with all applicable health and safety legislation, policies, and procedures.
  • Promote a safe and healthy work environment.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Who you are

Education & Specialized Knowledge

  • Thorough understanding of the electricity industry and experience working with regulatory and industry organizations.
  • Extensive knowledge of AMI, MV90, MDM systems, and customer information systems.
  • Strong understanding of utility meter-to-bill processes and revenue assurance principles.
  • Knowledge of applicable legislation, regulatory requirements, codes, and reporting obligations within a regulated utility environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Experience using analytics, reporting, and AI-enabled tools to derive insights from large datasets.
  • Knowledge of Oracle CC&B and JD Edwards EnterpriseOne Financials is considered an asset.

Experience
  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive leadership experience in a senior management role.
  • Experience leading operational, technology, or analytics functions within a utility or regulated environment.
  • Extensive experience in strategic planning, budgeting, and business planning.
  • Experience in a unionized environment and knowledge of utility industry regulations is considered an asset.

Compensation
  • At Alectra, Compensation for non-union positions is determined within a defined salary range for each role. Placement within the salary range depends on several factors, including qualifications, relevant experience, and alignment with the role's requirements. We consider internal equity and market competitiveness to ensure fairness and consistency across the organization.
  • This position is eligible to receive an annual incentive payment based on a combination of individual and Company performance.
