Director Psych/Social Services for our BRAND-NEW unit called
Altru Behavioral Health Center in
Grand Forks, ND. This unit will be a
24-bed inpatient unit for both adult and pediatric patients. We are also planning to expand to an additional 24 beds in 2026. Altru Health System and Universal Health Services are working together in expanding inpatient behavioral health services. The
Director Psych/Social Services assists the Executive Director in the supervision and management of the Social Work Function within psychiatric services. The
Director Psych/Social Services is responsible for providing direct high quality psychotherapy services to patients in assessments, diagnoses, treatment planning, group treatment, individual treatment, family treatment, and discharge planning. The Director Psych/Social Services assists patients and their families in understanding and adjusting to diagnoses and potential treatments. The
Director Psych/Social Services can also help identify resources during treatment and after discharge. The Director Psych/Social Services effectively participates as a member of the multidisciplinary team and the unit community relations team. The
Director Psych/Social Services will have clinical supervision for Social Workers and Therapists .
Responsibilities: - Responsible for planning, developing, organizing, implementing, evaluating and directing of the social service programs of the facility.
- Keep abreast of current federal and state regulations and make recommendations for changes in facility policies and procedures.
- Provide for professional growth and development of clinical staff through identification of needs, development of individual training plans, participation in training programs, encouragement of formal continuing education efforts, and evaluation.
- Monitor social workers and therapists' performance on a continuous basis and conduct regular performance evaluations for clinical direct reports.
- Collaborate with physicians, multidisciplinary team members, and outside health and social agencies. Ensure the completion of all required documentation relevant to patients in a timely, efficient manner.
- Continuously audit and review performance and documentation of direct reports for consistency and accuracy.
- Assure quality of care by adhering to therapeutic standards, measuring health outcomes against patient care goals and regulatory standards. Maintain continuity among social workers and therapists by documenting and communicating.
- Conducts individual psychotherapy sessions in accordance with state/regulatory standards, displays sufficient theoretical knowledge of psychopathology and effective treatment techniques.
- Orient or mentor new nursing staff.
- Performs other duties as assigned/required by this position.

Qualifications - Bachelor's Degree required
- State Social Work Certification/License required (Licensed Baccalaureate Social Worker - LBSW, Licensed Master Social Worker - LMSW, Licensed Clinical Social Worker - LCSW, Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker - LICSW, Licensed Professional Counselor - LPC, or Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist - LMFT).
- Master's degree preferred.
- 10+ years of related work experience
- Completes competent, clear progress notes and assessments according to program policies and procedures
- Ability to Manager anger, fear, hostility and violence of others
- Ability to Manager Stress Appropriately
- Proficiency in Applicable Software Applications
- Communicates effectively with other professional and support staff to achieve positive Patient Outcomes
- Crisis prevention experience
