Responsibilities

The Core Laboratory Director provides administrative, operational, financial, and strategic leadership for the centralized core laboratory, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, efficient, and timely diagnostic testing services that support multiple hospital departments, outreach programs, and affiliated sites.

This individual is 1) responsible for the oversight of high-volume automated testing platforms, laboratory workflow optimization, staffing management, quality assurance programs, regulatory compliance, and continuous operational improvement 2) collaborates closely with the Laboratory Medical Director, Technical Supervisors, hospital leadership, and corporate laboratory leadership to ensure laboratory operations meet clinical, regulatory, and organizational standards 3) primary responsibilities include oversight of core laboratory disciplines such as chemistry, immunoassay, hematology, coagulation, pathology, microbiology, molecular, immunology and other automated testing platforms, including analyzer integration, laboratory information systems (LIS), middleware, and automation lines 4) ensures that laboratory services support timely clinical decision-making, operational efficiency, and patient safety, while maintaining compliance with all applicable regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, TRAINING

 

1. Bachelor’s degree in clinical laboratory science, medical technology, chemical, biological, or physical science from an accredited institution required.2. ASCP certification (MLS or equivalent) preferred.3. Minimum 5 years of clinical laboratory supervisory and 2 years of clinical laboratory directorship experience, preferably within a high-volume core laboratory environment.4. Experience with laboratory automation systems, middleware, and LIS platforms preferred.5. Experience managing high-complexity testing operations and regulatory compliance strongly preferred.6. Knowledge of laboratory financial management, budgeting, and operational metrics preferred.7. Lean Six Sigma or quality management training preferred.8. Master’s degree in healthcare administration, laboratory management, or related field preferred.

A reasonable compensation estimate for this role, which includes estimated wages, benefits, and other forms of compensation, is $100,000.00 to $140,000.00 on an annualized basis. The exact starting compensation to be offered will be determined at the time of selecting an applicant for hire, in which a wide range of factors will be considered, including but not limited to, skillset, years of applicable experience, education, credentials and licensure.
