Who You Will Work With:

Reporting to the Leader, Product Core, Money Movement, the Development, Lead is responsible for providing technical leadership and hands-on development expertise for Interac's Money Movement platforms. The role leads the design, development, modernization, and support of enterprise-scale applications built using Java, Spring Boot, Hibernate, REST APIs, SOAP/Web Services, and AWS cloud technologies. The successful candidate will drive engineering excellence, mentor developers, lead solution design, and deliver secure, scalable, and highly available payment solutions supporting Interac's strategic modernization initiatives.

What You Will Do:

Technical Leadership

• Provide technical leadership for Java-based application development initiatives.
• Lead solution design discussions and ensure alignment with enterprise architecture standards.
• Define and promote software engineering best practices, coding standards, and design patterns.
• Conduct architecture reviews, code reviews, and technical design reviews.
• Mentor developers and foster a culture of engineering excellence and continuous improvement.
• Support technical decision-making and technology roadmap development.

Application Development

• Design, develop, and maintain enterprise-grade applications using:
  • Java
  • Spring Boot
  • Spring Framework
  • Hibernate/JPA
  • REST APIs
  • SOAP/Web Services
  • Develop reusable frameworks, shared components, and integration services.
  • Build and maintain secure and scalable APIs for internal and external consumers.
  • Design and implement high-performance database solutions and persistence layers.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex production and application issues.

Solution Architecture & Integration

• Design service-oriented and event-driven solutions.
• Develop API contracts and integration patterns.
• Implement secure authentication and authorization mechanisms.
• Collaborate with enterprise architects to define target-state architectures.
• Integrate with financial institutions, payment networks, and enterprise platforms.

Delivery & Operational Excellence

• Participate in agile planning, estimation, and sprint execution.
• Ensure timely delivery of committed features and modernization initiatives.
• Drive automated testing, CI/CD, and deployment best practices.
  Support release planning and production deployments.
• Lead root cause analysis and remediation activities for critical incidents.
• Improve application observability, monitoring, and operational readiness.

What You Bring:

• 8+ years of software development experience.
• 3+ years leading technical teams or major development initiatives.
  Proven experience delivering enterprise-scale applications in complex environments.
• Experience working within Agile development teams.
  Expert-level Java development.
• Strong Spring Boot and Spring Framework expertise.
• Strong Hibernate/JPA implementation experience.
• Experience developing RESTful APIs and microservices.
• Experience developing and consuming SOAP/Web Services.
• Knowledge of API versioning, security, and governance practices.

What We're Offering:

The hiring range for this position is $145,000 to $160,000, and you will also be eligible for our short-term incentive plan. The exact amount will depend on factors such as skills, experience, and job-related knowledge, but Interac's commitment goes beyond compensation.
