Job Title: Development Engineer

Working Pattern: Hybrid/Onsite in office 3 days/week

Working location: Indianapolis, IN or Savannah, GA

A new opportunity has arisen for a Development Engineer. As a Development Engineer at Rolls-Royce, you will play a key role in coordination of the cross-functional product team designing, testing, and certification of the products. This role will also require supporting customer engagements, program management of engineering projects, and/or Installed Verification testing.

What you will be doing:

Here you'll have the opportunity to work on the following interesting projects:

  • Ensure project risks (technical, cost, supply chain, and timescale) are identified, managed (including integration of risk activities in project plan), and escalation of risks in accordance with risk management plan.
  • Ensure IPT work is integrated with all relevant higher-level plans - including relevant Project Management Plan and Risk Management Plan.
  • Managing and delivering the necessary compliance documents, from requirements capture through to evidence of compliance appropriate software / tools.
  • This position will plan, manage, and develop engine/sub-system certification/qualification plans and participate in product introduction gated reviews, and allocate requirements to major sub-systems.
  • Understand experiment/test requirements and turn them into test plans, budgets, schedules and subsequently test instructions. Understand and articulate risks and opportunities to program leadership to support decision making.
  • Lead integration activities between project teams and test to ensure instrumentation, controls, data acquisition, test limits, and test data recording are completed. Support on-site and off-site development engine/sub-system build and test activities.

Basic Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering with 2+years' experience, OR
  • Master's degree in Engineering, OR
  • JD/PhD in Engineering
  • In order to be considered for this opportunity, you must be eligible to obtain and maintain security clearance, which requires USA Citizenship


Preferred:

  • Project / Function Management Engineering Experience
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills to work effectively in a team environment; willingness to accept responsibility and take initiative; and drive to finish assigned tasks on schedule
  • An excellent command of the English language for both written and oral communications
  • 4+ years of experience in technical project management or development engineering
  • Experience interfacing with customers on technical program issues
  • Gas turbine systems engine test, installation, verification, and performance experience
  • Experience with the Rolls-Royce Indianapolis EVMS systems and Microsoft Project
  • Experience managing and interpreting requirements, and developing test plans
  • Experience leading a cross-discipline, cross-functional development team
  • Experience with product configuration control, quality systems, trouble reporting and root cause / corrective action
  • Experience in the field of engine performance and operation or system design / control and powerplant integration.
  • Experience with structured verification
