POSITION OVERVIEW
Reporting to the Senior Vice President, Fleet Management Operations, the Developer functions with considerable independence and initiative and is responsible for researching, designing, and developing computer and network software or specialized programs. This role analyzes user and business needs, updates existing software capabilities, and develops software solutions. This role consistently utilizes independent judgment and discretion and works closely with internal and external stakeholders to modify existing software to correct errors, upgrade interfaces and improve performance. Ultimately, the Developer works to ensure the optimization of internal systems and serves as a trusted advisor to leadership by offering strategic recommendations and responsive support.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
CONSULTATION & INFORMATION GATHERING
A Developer that confers with others to obtain information on project limitations and capabilities, performance requirements and interfaces.
Obtains and evaluates information on factors such as reporting formats required, costs, or security needs to determine hardware configuration.
Consults with customers or other departments on project status, proposals, or technical issues, such as software system design or maintenance.
ANALYSIS & TESTING
A Developer that analyzes user needs and software requirements to determine feasibility of solutions within time and cost constraints.
Stores, retrieves, and manipulates data to analyze system capabilities and requirements.
Analyzes information to determine, recommend, and plan installation of a new system or modification of an existing system.
Develops software system testing and validation procedures, programming, and documentation.
DEVELOPMENT & MONITORING
A Developer that develops software system testing and validation procedures, programming, and documentation.
Designs, develops and modifies software systems, using scientific analysis and mathematical models to predict and measure outcomes and consequences of design.
Monitors functioning of equipment to ensure system operates in conformance with specifications.
QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field required.
At least five years of recent relevant experience required.
Proficiency in SQL programming required, including creating tables, querying, updating, deleting data, managing keys, and defining relationships between tables.
Familiarity with application languages likeC#, Python, Java, et al strongly
Strong preference for experience with VesonIMOS, Nautical Systems Enterprise, Business Central, .NET, and PowerBI.
Experience with Office 365 (Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel) at the Intermediate level strongly preferred.
Able to successfully pass a post-offer background check.

The Developer must possess access to a reliable form of transportation with the ability to work in the office during standard business hours Monday - Thursday and from home on Fridays during standard business hours with a one-hour lunch, unless an alternate schedule is approved. This position is expected to perform work outside and beyond normal working hours during times of critical deadlines, projects, or when there are time-sensitive duties.
