Full Job Description
Application close date:
Applications will be accepted on an ongoing basis until the requisition is closed.

This role supports the development and operations of New Glenn, a single-configuration, heavy-lift orbital launch vehicle capable of routinely carrying people and payloads to low-Earth orbit, geostationary transfer orbit, cislunar, and beyond. Its first stage is fully reusable, and the vehicle was designed from the beginning to be human-capable.

As part of a passionate team of specialists and engineers, you will directly impact our mission by building and maintaining the infrastructure that compiles, tests, and delivers New Glenn's flight software. As a DevOps Software Engineer, you join us to ensure the build systems and automation pipelines that power Blue Origin's New Glenn orbital launch vehicle are reliable, fast, and scalable.

You will collaborate closely with flight software engineers and test teams across the New Glenn program to build and maintain CI/CD pipelines, manage build environments, and develop automation that keeps development moving at pace. Every day, you will apply your software development skills to design, build, and maintain the tooling and infrastructure that turns source code into verified flight software. You will take an active role in improving build reliability, reducing cycle times, and automating manual processes across the development lifecycle.

For this role, your day-to-day activities will focus on developing and maintaining build pipelines, writing automation scripts, and supporting the infrastructure that flight software teams depend on. You will be responsible for maintaining CI/CD configurations, troubleshooting build failures, managing development environments, and creating tools that improve developer productivity. You will work closely with senior engineers to deploy and monitor these systems, integrate with version control and artifact management services, and help ensure the reliability and repeatability of our build and release processes. As a member of the team, your contributions will directly enable the rapid and safe development of New Glenn flight software.

We are looking for someone to apply their technical expertise and commitment to quality to positively impact safe human spaceflight. Passion for our mission and vision is required!

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines for flight software compilation, testing, and delivery
  • Developing automation scripts and tools to streamline infrastructure operations and developer workflows
  • Supporting build environment configuration, containerization, and reproducibility
  • Monitoring system health and troubleshooting build and deployment failures
  • Contributing to infrastructure-as-code for development and test environments

Minimum Qualifications:
  • B.S. degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or related field
  • Familiarity with CI/CD concepts and tools (GitLab CI, Jenkins, or similar)
  • Experience with scripting languages (Python, Bash, or similar)
  • Familiarity with Linux and other Unix-style operating systems
  • Exposure to version control systems (Git) and build tools (CMake, Make, or similar)

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes)
  • Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code tools (Terraform, Ansible, or similar)
  • Experience with artifact management and package registries
  • Exposure to embedded or real-time systems build toolchains
  • Experience with AI/LLM application development or integration
  • Familiarity with monitoring and observability tools (Prometheus, Grafana, or similar)
  • Understanding of software configuration management in safety-critical environments

Compensation Range for:
WA applicants is $164,652.00 - $230,512.80
