The Opportunity:Perkins Eastman has an immediate need for Designer II for our Stamford office. We are seeking dedicated, passionate team members with strong individual design and problem-solving skills for immediate opportunities as a Designer.
Independently apply advanced architectural concepts and designs. Responsible for specific technical design aspects of an assigned main project, including investigation, evaluation and recommendation of design solutions that best meet the client's needs. Provides professional architectural consultation in the planning,
design and coordination of large complex projects. Carries out complex or novel assignments requiring the development of new or improved techniques and
procedures.
This position requires the candidates to support project team leaders and produce presentations suitable for the Perkins Eastman team and client.
Primary Responsibilities: - Report to the Project Manager and support project delivery across all phases, from Pre-Schematic through Construction Documents.
- Assist in master planning, building planning, and design using Revit as the primary 3D modeling tool.
- Prepare program and schematic designs, project layouts, and client presentations using Revit or other 3D software.
- Perform design calculations, research materials/products, and compile data to support architectural assignments.
- Develop and assist in preparing construction drawings, detailing, and specifications.
- Review building, energy, and accessibility codes to ensure compliance with applicable standards.
- Support construction administration activities, including reviewing shop drawings, responding to RFIs, conducting site visits, and maintaining submittal logs.
- Create finish material sample boards, physical models, and graphic presentations for client review.
- Collaborate with the Project Architect, Senior Designer, Project Manager, and broader design team.
- Contribute to the development of both aesthetic and technical design solutions.
- Follow established production standards and quality control processes.
- Provide project status updates and communicate progress or support needs to the team.
- Offer guidance and support to less experienced team members.
Required Qualifications - Bachelor or Master's degree in Architecture
- Minimum of 5 -8 years relevant work experience
- Minimum 1 year of experience w/ construction administration (submittal review, RFI response, consultant coordination) is preferred.
- Self-motivation and the ability to manage time well and achieve project deadlines
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Experience working in the context of multidisciplinary project teams
- Proficient with Revit, Lumion, Grasshopper, Enscape and Sketchup
- Adept with administrative software applications such as Bluebeam, PowerPoint, Word, and Excel, as well as construction administration platforms such as Newforma and Procore.
- Ability to develop, communicate, and present design concepts to their team.
- Strong communication skills and excellent graphic presentation skills.
- Ability to work on multiple projects at the same time.
- Certification as a licensed professional or on path to licensure
- Accreditation from a recognized sustainability certification entity is a plus
