Job Title: Design Support SpecialistLocation: Bronx, NY (On-site, 5 days per week)
Salary Range: $95,000 - $110,000 annually
Position OverviewThis role supports a multi-billion-dollar Design-Build program to deliver new buildings across multiple boroughs. The Design Support Specialist will be assigned to one borough and play a key role in supporting the Design Lead to ensure successful delivery of building designs by the Design-Build team.
This position requires strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills, along with the ability to work independently and with transparency in a client-facing, highly visible public-sector environment.
Responsibilities- Support the Design Lead in ensuring all designs and building systems comply with defined project requirements, standards, and goals
- Assist in delivering work packages aligned with scope, quality, schedule, and budget requirements
- Coordinate design submittals, presentations, and design charrettes with internal stakeholders
- Support the management of design reviews and approvals with authorities having jurisdiction
- Monitor and evaluate Design-Builder progress across scope, quality, schedule, and cost; support corrective action implementation as needed
- Assist in managing multidisciplinary design elements and tracking technical performance of design teams
- Support coordination with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) and integrate technical guidance into project execution
- Provide technical design support and assist in integrating various design packages across the project
- Help ensure design documentation meets project requirements and is delivered in accordance with agreed standards, timelines, and budgets
- Assist in project planning efforts, identifying key design and delivery risks and contributing to technical planning
- Maintain proper documentation, ensuring processes and activities are recorded, tracked, and aligned with quality control standards
- Communicate clearly and effectively with internal teams, external consultants, and key stakeholders
Qualifications- Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field
- Minimum of 4+ years of relevant experience in design, construction, or program management support
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills, with the ability to proactively identify and resolve issues
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, including experience in client-facing roles
- Demonstrated ability to manage sensitive information with discretion and confidentiality
- Experience working with large public-sector projects strongly preferred
- Demonstrated commitment to continuous learning, including the use of emerging tools and technologies
