Full Job Description
Directs Optica's program delivery, data and reporting efforts.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Program delivery/Project Management
  1. Establishes and directs implementation of organization-wide program delivery process. Note this is NOT a process-heavy project management role. We are not looking for a Scrum Master or PMP-focused profile, but rather someone who drives execution, asks strong focused questions, and improves how work gets done across the Development team.
  2. Oversees and monitors project scopes, timelines, deliverables and risks.
  3. Reviews and approves requirements for projects involving core business applications (AMS, Peer Review System, Optica Publishing Group Platform) to ensure efficient design, integration with existing applications and data, and future flexibility.
  4. Runs daily stand-up meeting, defining goals, plan to deal with project impediments, manage team workloads.
  5. Drive execution clarity, break down ambiguous work into clear next steps, ensure developers can articulate scope, risks, and estimates.
  6. Surface and remove blockers, actively identify where engineers are stuck, push for alternative approaches when needed.
  7. Review calendar of key tasks, updates and events - such as preparing data or run testing for annual meeting or for next year's subscription products. Ensure tasks assigned and completed by team.


Business Intelligence, Reporting and Data Quality
  1. Identifies needs and opportunities for improved data management and delivery, and directs implementation of solutions.
  2. Ensures reporting, analytics and business intelligence systems meet the needs of the organization and end users.
  3. Oversees the quality, structure and management of data and information within the organization.


Business Process Improvement
  1. Develops and executes plans to optimize the use of information technology (including AI) in support OPTICA's overall mission and goals.
  2. Identifies operational inefficiencies and co-develops solutions to address.


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Association experience preferred.


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.
  • Project management - ability to conceptualize, launch and deliver multiple IT projects on time and within budget.
  • Ability to provide strategic guidance and counsel to end users in the assessment and development of existing and/or proposed systems.
  • Knowledge of Association Management Systems and Salesforce.
  • Knowledge of Tableau or PowerBI.
