Responsibilities

As the Deputy Program Manager, you will serve as the principal deputy to the Program Manager, directing day‑to‑day execution of a major Space Force acquisition program. You will lead cross-functional integration, ensure alignment to acquisition milestones, and manage cost, schedule, technical performance, and risk across a complex, multi‑discipline team.

 

What you’ll do:

  • Serve as the primary deputy to the Program Manager, providing daily leadership and oversight for program execution across systems engineering, software development, MBSE, cybersecurity, and digital engineering teams.
  • Lead integration and synchronization of cross‑functional activities supporting requirements development, architecture modeling, system design, implementation, integration, test, verification/validation, and operational readiness.
  • Oversee execution of program cost, schedule, technical performance, and risk management processes, ensuring alignment with acquisition strategy, contract requirements, and mission objectives.
  • Manage development, configuration control, and lifecycle maintenance of digital engineering artifacts, MBSE models, system architectures, interface definitions, and technical baselines.
  • Coordinate technical reviews, program management reviews, IPT meetings, architecture and design reviews, and executive‑level briefings with Space Force, SSC, government stakeholders, and mission partners.
  • Direct Agile, DevSecOps, and digital engineering practices across software and systems engineering teams to ensure timely delivery of secure, resilient, and mission-ready capabilities.
  • Identify and mitigate programmatic, technical, integration, cybersecurity, and schedule risks while maintaining requirements traceability and baseline integrity.
  • Support strategic planning, workforce planning, subcontractor oversight, and internal growth initiatives as the designated alternate to the Program Manager.
Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 12+ years of experience
  • This position requires the candidate possess a minimum of Secret clearance with ability to upgrade to TS/SCI. The candidate must maintain the clearance
  • Experience managing or leading large‑scale government acquisition of ground systems, engineering, or digital transformation programs, including responsibility for contracts, cost, scheduleperformance, and risk.
  • Experience establishing and maintaining rigorous configuration control of the Integrated Master Schedule (IMS) in MS Project, ensuring exact data integration and ID traceability with Cost Performance Datasets (CPD) down to the work package level.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multi-discipline subcontractor teams, including aligning subcontractor accounting periods and enforcing strict timelines for integrated IPMDAR reporting.
  • Proven experience bridging Agile software execution with formal Earned Value Management (EVM), translating software backlog metrics and JIRA tool data into verifiable cost and schedule progress.
  • Experience administering complex baseline maintenance, including managing rolling wave planning cycles and documenting detailed retroactive changes in compliance with government reporting frameworks.
  • Ability to evaluate and cross-reference financial metrics, schedule driving paths, and Earned Value techniques to ensure accurate forecasting of the Most Likely Estimate at Completion (EAC).
  • Knowledge of systems engineering, MBSE, digital engineering, or software engineering processes with experience guiding multi-disciplinary technical teams.
  • Experience preparing and leading program reviews, contract negotions, technical reviews, and milestone readiness activities in accordance with DoD or Space Force acquisition frameworks.
  • Experience with Agile or DevSecOps software development environments, including backlog management, sprint planning, or release planning.
  • Ability to review and manage technical artifacts such as architectures, technical baselines, engineering plans, or MBSE models.
  • Experience identifying, assessing, and mitigating complex programmatic or technical risks, including technical integration or cybersecurity-related concerns.

Target Salary Range$176,000 - $282,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual’s experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
