Position Summary The Deputy Athletic Director for Administration and Chief of Staff serves as a senior leader within the Athletics and Recreation division and as a key advisor to the Vice President of Athletics and Recreation. This position provides strategic leadership and coordination for divisional strategy, administration, organizational effectiveness, student-athlete success, sport administration, and cross-campus partnerships. The Deputy Athletic Director helps translate departmental priorities into coordinated action, strengthens accountability across functional areas, and works closely within the division and in partnership with other divisions to support student-athlete development, academic success, well-being, community engagement, and the overall student-athlete experience, ensuring that student-athletes thrive both on and off the field. The position also works closely with the Vice President and Athletics leadership to ensure Athletics operations align with University priorities, policies, and mission.
As a key member of the Athletics senior leadership team, this position serves as sport administrator for assigned varsity programs while also providing leadership and coordination for the division's overall sport administration function. In this capacity, the Deputy Athletic Director coordinates and advises sport administrators and promotes consistent practices and expectations across varsity programs. Sport administrator responsibilities include ensuring appropriate supervision and evaluation of coaches, budget oversight, competition and scheduling activities, team travel and expenses, oversight of student-athlete academic progress and well-being, and adherence to NCAA, conference, and University requirements.
Essential Duties - Serve as a member of the Athletics senior leadership team and key advisor to the Vice President of Athletics and Recreation.
- Lead department-wide strategic initiatives, planning efforts, and special projects.
- Coordinate implementation of key departmental priorities and monitor progress to support timely follow-through and effective execution.
- Develop and implement department policies, procedures, organizational planning, and operational standards in alignment with University policies and applicable requirements.
- Provide counsel and support to the Vice President on departmental priorities, personnel matters, and organizational planning, in partnership with Human Resources and other appropriate University offices.
- Serve as the primary Athletics liaison to Academic Affairs and Student Success, providing leadership and coordination for academic support and other student success and retention initiatives for student-athletes.
- Coordinate with Student Success and other campus partners to support student-athlete academic achievement, retention, eligibility, persistence, and graduation.
- Provide strategic oversight of the department's student-athlete development and success initiatives, including leadership development, personal and professional development, community engagement, and programs supporting the holistic student-athlete experience.
- Lead and facilitate sport administrator meetings and other cross-functional departmental meetings, ensuring alignment on strategic priorities, operational initiatives, student-athlete well-being, and organizational goals.
- Coordinate and advise sport administrators and promote consistent practices and expectations in the administration of varsity programs.
- Work collaboratively with faculty and department advisors to ensure that student-athletes understand academic requirements (e.g., degree program and general education requirements, NCAA Division I progress-toward-degree requirements).
- Serve as the primary Athletics liaison to the Division of Campus Life, including the Dean of Students, Residence Life and Housing, and Student Conduct; Dining Services; Human Resources; and, in collaboration with the Vice President of Athletics and Recreation, the University's General Counsel liaison.
- Collaborate with the Associate AD for Compliance, Faculty Athletic Representative (FAR), University Registrar, and Center for Academic Achievement staff to oversee the NCAA eligibility certification process.
- Assist in the preparation, review, and submission of NCAA Academic Progress Rate (APR), Graduation Success Rate (GSR), and Federal Graduation Rate reports, ensuring alignment with institutional and NCAA requirements.
- Provide executive oversight and strategic direction for the department's sport performance program.
- Promote a culture of excellence, accountability, and evidence-based practice within all aspects of student-athlete performance enhancement.
- Serve as sport administrator for assigned varsity programs, including supervising and evaluating assigned coaches and providing consistent administrative oversight of program budgets, scheduling, travel, student-athlete experience, and compliance with University, conference, and NCAA requirements.
- Eventually add: Provide administrative oversight and coordination of the division's outsourced athletic training and sports medicine services, in collaboration with Student Wellness, the Team Physician, and other appropriate University partners, while maintaining appropriate clinical independence and medical decision-making authority.
Secondary Responsibilities - Serve on NCAA, Atlantic 10 Conference, University, and department committees as assigned.
- Provide administrative oversight of and supervision for the Athletics compliance function, if designated by the Vice President of Athletics and Recreation.
- Serve as Deputy Title IX Coordinator for Athletics, if designated by the President.
- Serve as the department's Senior Woman Administrator (SWA), if designated by the Vice President of Athletics and Recreation.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications - Bachelor's degree required.
- Minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible leadership experience in collegiate athletics, athletics administration, higher education administration, student affairs, or a related field, with demonstrated experience working in or closely with intercollegiate athletics.
- Demonstrated experience leading strategic initiatives, cross-functional projects, and organizational planning efforts.
- Experience supervising professional staff and managing personnel performance, development, and accountability.
- Demonstrated ability to build collaborative relationships, coordinate and influence work across functional areas, and build consensus among University colleagues and external stakeholders.
- Excellent written, verbal, interpersonal, and presentation communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities, exercise sound judgment, and operate effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Knowledge of NCAA Division I regulations, conference policies, and higher education governance.
- Demonstrated commitment to student-athlete well-being, academic success, and fostering an inclusive, respectful, and supportive environment for students and employees.
- Proven ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive personnel, student, and institutional matters with discretion.
- Knowledge of and commitment to the mission of La Salle University.
Preferred Qualifications - Master's degree in Sports Administration, Higher Education, Business Administration, Organizational Leadership, or a related field.
- Seven (7) or more years of progressively responsible experience in collegiate athletics administration.
- Previous experience serving as a sport administrator with supervision and evaluation of coaches.
- Experience serving as a Deputy Title IX Coordinator, Title IX liaison, or working closely with institutional compliance and student conduct processes.
- Experience working within the Atlantic 10 Conference or another NCAA Division I conference.
- Experience managing special projects, policy development, and operational assessment initiatives.
Physical Requirements and/or Unusual Work Hours - This position requires regular on-campus, in-person work to support University operations, collaborate effectively with campus partners, serve students, and perform the essential functions of the position.
- Travel and off-peak hours will be required for events and functions (e.g., on-campus and off-campus athletic events, division events, University events, and donor functions).
