Position: Director, Summer Street
Reports to: Chief Operating Officer
The Director is the on-site leader and plays a critical role in ensuring that Summer Street is a safe, well-maintained, financially sound, compliant, and welcoming community. This is a highly visible, property-based position for someone who enjoys being actively engaged with residents, staff, and the day-to-day operation of a complex residential community.
Duties and Responsibilities- Lead day-to-day operations with a visible, hands-on presence throughout the building.
- Build relationships with residents and respond directly to resident concerns, complex situations, emergencies, and community needs.
- Oversee leasing and occupancy, including applications, certifications, recertifications, move-ins, move-outs, unit turnover, and occupancy performance.
- Partner with Facilities to ensure the building is safe, clean, well-maintained, and responsive to resident and operational needs.
- Support compliance with LIHTC, HUD, RAD, PBV, VASH, Section 811, Fair Housing, and other applicable requirements.
- Manage financial performance in partnership with Finance and senior leadership, including rent collection, subsidy payments, expenses, budgeting, and financial performance.
- Supervise, coach, and develop staff, ensuring strong communication, accountability, staffing coverage, and teamwork across shifts.
- Coordinate across departments including Housing, Supportive Services, Facilities, Compliance, Finance, Human Resources, and other Crossroads teams.
- Develop external partnerships with service providers, government agencies, funders, investors, community organizations, and other stakeholders.
- Support safety, risk management, emergency response, and continuous improvement efforts.
- Help advance Crossroads' mission, strategic priorities, and values of Safety, Respect, and Effectiveness.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Education and Experience: - Bachelor's degree in business administration, public administration, social work, property management, or a related field; Master's preferred.
- Seven or more years of progressively responsible leadership experience in affordable housing, permanent supportive housing, homeless services, healthcare, property management, or a related field.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: - Experience managing complex day-to-day operations and multidisciplinary teams.
- Experience with HUD and affordable housing programs, including LIHTC and affordable housing compliance.
- Experience working in Permanent Supportive Housing and/or Housing First environments.
- LIHTC certification or ability to obtain certification within six months.
- Strong communication, relationship-building, problem-solving, decision-making, and conflict-resolution skills.
- Ability to respond calmly and effectively to emergencies, crises, and competing priorities.
- Demonstrated commitment to resident-centered service and Crossroads' values of Safety, Respect, and Effectiveness.
Salary Description
$85,000-$110,000 based on experience
