Description The OpportunityHusson University seeks an entrepreneurial Dean to advance the College of Business distinctive model of experiential education.
Example of Duties Key ResponsibilitiesThe Dean of the College of Business serves as the academic, strategic, and administrative leader for the College of Business including the School of Business and Management, School of Legal Studies, School of Technology and Innovation, New England School of Communications. The Dean provides visionary leadership for academic programs, faculty excellence, accreditation, enrollment growth, external partnerships, fundraising, and operational management. Reporting to the Provost, the Dean serves as a member of Deans' Council and collaborates with academic and administrative leaders to advance the mission, strategic priorities, and brand of the University.
The Dean is responsible for fostering innovation across business, communications, technology, leadership, and workforce development disciplines. The position seeks a dynamic and visionary leader who can ensure academic quality, enhance student success, develop successful partnerships, and ensure programs remain relevant to evolving industry needs.
The Dean serves as a key liaison among faculty, staff, students, alumni, donors, community organizations, and industry partners while promoting a culture of collaboration, inclusion, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities1. Strategic Leadership and Vision- Develop and implement a dynamic and strategic vision for the College that aligns with the University's mission and strategic plan.
- Lead innovation and growth initiatives that respond to emerging trends in business, communications, technology, and workforce development.
- Foster interdisciplinary collaboration among academic programs and across the University.
- Increase regional and national visibility through professional engagement and external partnerships.
- Cultivate relationships with alumni, employers, industry leaders, and community organizations.
- Represent the College to University administration, trustees, accrediting agencies, and external stakeholders.
2. Academic Leadership and Accreditation- Ensure academic excellence through curriculum innovation, program assessment, and continuous improvement.
- Oversee development, implementation, and evaluation of academic programs and delivery modalities, including online, hybrid, experiential, and competency-based learning.
- Lead accreditation initiatives and ensure compliance with standards established by accrediting bodies, including NECHE, IACBE, CFP Board, and other discipline-specific accreditors.
- Direct academic program review, learning assessment, and student outcomes initiatives.
- Preside over faculty meetings.
- Promote student success, retention, engagement, and career readiness.
- Coordinate and expand articulation agreements and educational partnerships with community colleges, secondary schools, technical centers, and professional organizations.
3. Faculty and Staff Leadership- Recruit, mentor, evaluate, and retain high-performing faculty and staff.
- Support faculty in teaching, scholarship, creativity, consulting, and professional practice.
- Foster a culture of innovation, strategic planning and collaboration.
- Ensure equitable faculty workload, advising assignments, and resource allocation.
- Review and recommend faculty, adjunct, and staff appointments.
- Conduct annual performance evaluations and support professional development planning.
- Encourage interdisciplinary teaching, scholarship, and community engagement.
4. Enrollment, Marketing, and External Engagement- Collaborate with Enrollment Management and Marketing to develop and implement recruitment and retention strategies.
- Utilize data-informed approaches to strengthen enrollment performance and student persistence.
- Enhance program visibility, outreach, employer engagement, and strategic communications.
- Support development of certificates, stackable credentials, workforce development, and continuing education opportunities.
- Engage alumni and donors to support scholarships, academic and strategic priorities.
- Support fundraising, grant development, sponsorships, and external revenue generation.
5. Budget, Operations, and Resource Management- Provide leadership for budget planning, financial stewardship, and resource allocation.
- Develop and manage annual operating and capital budgets.
- Oversee facilities, equipment, technology infrastructure, and experiential learning environments.
- Ensure effective purchasing, leasing, inventory control, and asset management.
6. University and Community Leadership- Serve as an active member of the Deans' Council and Extended Cabinet leadership team.
- Collaborate with colleagues across colleges and departments on institution-wide initiatives.
- Participate in University governance, planning, assessment, and strategic decision-making.
- Promote shared governance, transparency, professionalism, and open communication.
- Represent the University in community, professional, and industry organizations.
- Support initiatives that advance the University's mission, values, and strategic priorities.

Education and Experience- Earned doctorate from an accredited institution in business, leadership, higher education, or a related field required.
- Minimum of five years of progressively responsible academic leadership experience, including supervision of faculty and staff required.
Knowledge, Skills and/or AbilitiesRequired Qualifications- Demonstrated success in strategic planning, accreditation, curriculum development, and academic administration.
- Strong record of teaching, scholarship, and industry knowledge.
- Experience managing budgets, personnel, enrollment strategies, and organizational resources.
- Demonstrated ability to build partnerships with alumni, industry, community organizations, and external stakeholders.
- Experience leading fundraising, grant development, and external engagement initiatives.
