Position Description:

Join a fast paced Agile team supporting enterprise scale Appian applications used across a mission critical environment. As a Database Engineer, you will design, optimize, and maintain the data structures, workflows, and integrations that power Appian applications. You will collaborate closely with Appian developers, architects, DevSecOps engineers, and business analysts to ensure data reliability, performance, auditability, and seamless integration with enterprise systems. This role is ideal for someone with strong SQL engineering skills who wants to apply them in a modern low code ecosystem while contributing to platform modernization and continuous improvement efforts.
This position is located in our Lafayette, Louisiana office; however, a hybrid working model is acceptable.

Your future duties and responsibilities:

. Develop, optimize, and maintain SQL database structures that support Appian CDTs, Records, and application workflows.
. Perform database performance tuning, indexing, and query optimization to improve Appian application responsiveness.
. Support integrations between Appian and enterprise systems (e.g., SharePoint, AWS services, LDAP, SailPoint) by engineering and maintaining data connections and supporting structures.
. Build and maintain ETL jobs or data pipelines used to feed Appian applications, reporting, and dashboards.
. Ensure data quality and integrity through validation logic, stored procedures, and workflow driven data controls.
. Collaborate with Appian developers, architects, and DevSecOps engineers to design and implement data solutions aligned with Appian platform standards.
. Participate in Agile ceremonies and contribute to user story refinement for data related requirements.
. Integrate database changes into CI/CD pipelines supporting automated Appian deployments and testing.
. Troubleshoot data related incidents, integration failures, and performance issues across Appian environments.
. Implement and enforce database security, access controls, and auditability requirements aligned with platform governance standards.
. Document database configurations, data flows, and integration points for technical and non technical stakeholders.
. Support modernization activities, including schema refactoring, migration planning, and technical debt remediation for Appian connected systems.

Required qualifications to be successful in this role:

. Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
. 1-5 years of experience in Microsoft SQL database development or database engineering
. Strong proficiency in SQL Server (T SQL), including stored procedures, indexing, performance tuning, and query optimization.
. 1+ years of professional experience using database comparison/script packaging software such as SQL Server Data Tools, RedGate SQL Compare, or similar tools
. Experience supporting integrations via APIs, ETL tools, or data pipelines.
. Understanding of Appian data structures (CDTs, Records, data stores) or experience supporting data for low code platforms.
. Experience working in Agile and DevSecOps environments.
. Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and documentation skills.
. Ability to meet federal background investigation requirements.
Desired qualifications/non essential skills required:
. Experience with cloud database services (Azure SQL, AWS RDS).
. Familiarity with Appian platform administration or development fundamentals.
. Knowledge of enterprise integration patterns used with Appian (REST/SOAP, OIDC, SAML, LDAP).
. Experience automating database operations using PowerShell or Python.
. Exposure to Appian ATF testing cycles and platform Health Check processes.
. Prior experience supporting government or regulated environments.

The determination of this range includes various factors not limited to skill set, level, experience, relevant training, and licensure and certifications. To support the ability to reward for merit based performance, CGI typically does not hire individuals at or near the top of the range for their role. Compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range for this role in the U.S. is $52,200.00 $123,800.00.
