Database Administrator III - Harris Teeter, LLC - Matthews, NC.

Job Duties: Responsible for the implementation of databases including logical and physical design, database configuration, and sizing of data and memory structures. Contribute to processes for defining, implementing, supporting, and maintaining database security and backup/recovery strategies across the enterprise. Establish physical database parameters per prescribed standards. Train developers and Database Administrators with use of database features and applications. Design logical and physical databases or review description of changes to database design to understand how changes to be made affect physical database (how data is stored in terms of physical characteristics such as location, amount of space, and access method). Responsible for monitoring all databases for approaching limits on all fronts, auditing database access, and tracking database performance. Calculate optimum values for database parameters such as amount of computer memory to be used by database. Specify user access level for each instance/schema of one or more data items. Specify which users can access databases and what data can be accessed by user. Test and correct errors and refine changes to database. Define and determine sizing and storage of data files. Ensure database designs, jobs, programs, etc. are documented appropriately. Participate in production implementation (turnover) meetings as scheduled. Implement architecture performance tuning of storage units, structure of relationships (normalizing), and database programs. Develop stored procedures, SQL scripts, and other database programming objects (e.g., triggers, packages, etc.). Responsible for planning and implementation of database upgrades and patches. Assist in developing plans for future direction of database environments. Provide consultation on complex projects and act as the top-level contributor/specialist.

Minimum Requirements: Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, or a related technical field is required. Must have 5 years of progressive, post-degree experience as a Database Architect or a related occupation, including experience in/with: reading, analyzing, and interpreting general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations; writing reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals; presenting information and responding to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public; adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals; computing rate, ratio, and percent; drawing and interpreting bar graphs; mathematical concepts/algorithms to the extent that equations can be interpreted through Data Manipulative Language (SQL) where programs will give the expected output for the customer; solving practical problems; dealing with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists; interpreting a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form; word processing software; spreadsheet software; development software; design software; and Oracle and/or SQL Server database software. Must have SQL Server or equivalent certification.
