Job Description

We are seeking an experienced ESP Database Administrator (DBA) to augment an existing DBA team with a focus on automating data access management within a data lake environment (S3 and Redshift). This role will support ongoing database operations and improvements across multiple platforms including Oracle, MySQL, Aurora, and Redshift.

The successful candidate will lead initiatives for automating role-based access controls and support key DBA functions such as patching, backups, performance tuning, and security across both cloud and on-premises environments.
Key Responsibilities
  • Access Management Automation:
    • Design and implement automated, role-based access control solutions across Redshift, MySQL, and Oracle databases.
  • Database Administration:
    • Install, manage, maintain, patch, upgrade, and monitor Oracle databases (Oracle 19c+) on AWS EC2 environments, including Grid Infrastructure and ASM.
    • Administer AWS RDS, Aurora, and Redshift instances and clusters, ensuring performance, stability, and security.
  • Backup and Recovery:
    • Design, test, and implement backup and recovery procedures for all databases.
    • Support disaster recovery planning and execution.
  • Security and Compliance:
    • Define, maintain, and enforce robust security policies for database environments.
    • Participate in planning and maintaining security controls and compliance efforts.
  • Optimization and Monitoring:
    • Monitor and tune database performance, focusing on Oracle and MySQL.
    • Identify inefficiencies and recommend automation and improvement opportunities.
  • Collaboration and Support:
    • Work independently and collaboratively to resolve technical challenges.
    • Maintain clear documentation and communicate effectively with technical teams and stakeholders.

      Requirements:
    • 5+ years of experience administering Oracle 19c+ and MySQL 8+ databases.
    • 3+ years of experience working with AWS RDS, Aurora, and Redshift.
    • Strong knowledge of RDBMS architecture, including:
      • Database backup and recovery strategies.
      • Security, auditing, and data integrity.
    • Experience designing and implementing role-based access control (RBAC) solutions across multiple database platforms.
    • Proficiency in SQL tuning and optimization for both Oracle and MySQL.
    • Expertise in managing Oracle ASM and RMAN on Linux environments.
    • Solid hands-on experience with Unix Shell scripting and Python.
    • Experience with Oracle APEX (considered an asset).
    • Ability to work independently and solve complex problems with minimal supervision.
    • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
    • Proven ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented, client-focused environment.
