Data Solutions Engineer (onsite)

Location: Newtown, CT

The Data Solutions Engineer is responsible for supporting, maintaining, and enhancing the Bank's enterprise data environment, including the Snowflake data warehouse, reporting platform, data integrations, and automation solutions. This position partners closely with the Vice President of Business Intelligence & Core Systems, Information Technology, business partners, vendors, and implementation consultants to build internal expertise and assume long-term ownership of the Bank's data platform after implementation.

This is an onsite opportunity at our corporate office in Newtown, CT. This role has a remote option of one day per week.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Data Warehouse & Data Management

  • Serve as the primary administrator and internal owner of the Bank's Snowflake data warehouse.
  • Support data governance, security, and regulatory compliance through appropriate controls, access management, and documentation.
  • Build, maintain, and optimize data pipelines and transformation processes that integrate, standardize, and enrich data from core banking systems and third-party applications.
  • Develop and maintain SQL queries, data models, and data pipelines that support reporting and analytics.
  • Administer and optimize data platform tools and integrations to ensure performance, reliability, scalability, and cost efficiency.
  • Monitor data quality and resolve issues to ensure the accuracy and reliability of enterprise data.
  • Evaluate new systems and data sources for inclusion in the enterprise data warehouse.
  • Maintain data definitions, mappings, business rules, integration processes, and supporting technical documentation.
  • Recommend improvements to the Bank's data architecture, reporting capabilities, automation, and data governance.


Reporting & Business Intelligence

  • Develop and maintain data models, dashboards, and reports.
  • Partner with business leaders to identify reporting needs and deliver meaningful insights.
  • Support operational, analytical, and management reporting across the organization.
  • Assist departments in leveraging data to improve decision-making, operational efficiency, and business performance.


Integrations & Automation

  • Create and maintain automated file transfers, scheduled jobs, APIs, and other integration processes.
  • Identify opportunities to automate manual processes and improve operational efficiency.
  • Support secure file transfer processes, encryption standards, and automated data exchange with vendors and business partners.
  • Troubleshoot integration and automation failures and implement corrective actions.


Project & Vendor Support

  • Partner with software vendors, consultants, and internal stakeholders during implementations, upgrades, and integration projects.
  • Support data conversion, migration, and integration efforts for new systems and enhancements.
  • Help establish and expand the Bank's long-term data and reporting capabilities.
  • Ensure that efficiency within your functional areas of responsibility is consistent with or better than peer organizations and other industry competitors by remaining abreast of industry trends and taking action when appropriate. Oversee the identification and implementation of efficiency opportunities within your area and in collaboration with other areas.


POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Analytics, or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 3-5 years of experience supporting data integration, business intelligence, reporting, database administration, or data warehouse environments.
  • Strong SQL development skills.
  • Experience with relational databases.
  • Experience with business intelligence and data visualization tools..
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Preferred
  • Experience with Snowflake or similar cloud data warehouse platforms.
  • Experience with APIs, secure file transfers, and data integration technologies.
  • Experience with Python, PowerShell, or other scripting languages.
  • Banking or financial services experience preferred.


Success in This Role

  • Within the first year, this individual will transition knowledge from the implementation consultant and become the Bank's internal owner of the Snowflake data warehouse, analytics and reporting platform, data integrations, and supporting automation processes. The role will work closely with business leaders to expand the Bank's data capabilities while reducing manual work through automation and delivering trusted data for decision-making.
