Who you are:

We are always looking for amazing talent who can contribute to our growth and deliver results! Geotab is seeking a Data Scientist who will assist in the design and construction of Geotab's data mining and model building processes from vast amounts of raw data. What you'll do:

As a Data Scientist your key area of responsibility will be analyzing trends to make improved decision-making in producing effective customer-facing products. You will need to work closely with internal technical teams to gather requirements. To be successful in this role you will be a strong team-player with high accuracy, meticulous attention to detail, and an entrepreneurial mindset comfortable in a flat organization. In addition, the successful candidate will have strong analytical skills with the ability to problem solve well-judged decisions, manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously, and stay relevant to technology to adapt to growing market demands.
How you'll make an impact:
  • Design and construct Geotab's data modeling processes.
  • Create algorithms and predictive models to extract information required to solve complex business problems.
  • Generate queries from Geotab's Big Data Infrastructure from Data Warehousing database (i.e. Google BigQuery).
  • Use Machine Learning (ML) packages (e.g. Scikit-learn and Tensorflow) to develop ML models and features.
  • Test the performance of data-driven products and make recommendations for improving Geotab's product suite.
  • Collaborate with internal technical teams to gather requirements.
  • Responsible for the design, development, and maintenance of ongoing metrics, reports, analyses, and dashboards to drive key business decisions.
  • Support a platform providing ad-hoc and automated access to large datasets.
  • Consistently demonstrate Geotab's Core Values in all daily work and interactions.
  • Responsible for the contribution and maintenance of the departmental Wiki.
What you'll bring to the role:

  • 1-5 years experience as a Data Scientist or a similar role.
  • Post-secondary Degree/Diploma with specialization in Mathematics, Computer Science, Statistics, or a related field.
  • Thorough knowledge of programming languages (e.g. Python, SQL, C++) and object-oriented programming.
  • Thorough knowledge of Big Data tools and Data Mining/Warehousing Programs (e.g. Google BigQuery), along with experience in machine learning techniques (e.g. Scikit-learn, Tensorflow).
  • Comfortable integrating diverse AI models and productivity tools to accelerate project deliverables.
  • Understanding of machine learning and operations research, with experience using/building business intelligence tools (e.g. Tableau) and data frameworks.
  • Technical competence using software programs, including Google Suite for business (Sheets, Docs, Slides); experience in a high-technology industry is an asset.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and team-player skills with high attention to detail and an entrepreneurial mindset.

The annual base salary for this position is the expected annual salary for this role, and may be subject to change. Geotab offers various perks and benefits and other compensation components that an individual may be eligible for. The actual base salary for this position depends on a variety of factors such as but not limited to skills, qualifications, education and overall experience, including the location the applicant lives while performing the job. This also includes equity with other team members and alignment with local market data. All offers of employment are contingent upon proof of eligibility to work and the individual's ability to pass a background check.

Hiring Range

$104,400-$135,700 CAD
