Data Governance Analyst

BNY is seeking a Data Governance Analyst to support the Infrastructure Platform Data Management team. This role is responsible for driving data governance activities across critical applications and datasets, ensuring data is trusted, well-defined, high quality, and fit for business, regulatory, analytics, and AI use cases.

The successful candidate will partner with Data Owners, Data Stewards, Application Managers, and technology teams to onboard applications and datasets into the enterprise governance framework, establish authoritative data sources, improve data quality controls, and maintain governance metadata within Collibra.

This role is in person and located in New York/New Jersey Area.

In this role, you'll make an impact in the following ways:
  • Support end-to-end onboarding of applications and datasets into the enterprise data governance framework.
  • Partner with business and technology stakeholders to identify and document Critical Data Elements (CDEs), business definitions, ownership, lineage, and metadata.
  • Manage Authoritative Data Source (ADS) onboarding and certification activities, ensuring data quality, governance, and control requirements are met.
  • Partner with Application Data Owners and Data Solution Services platform teams for physical data elements and source-to-target logic, enabling governed Data Lake hydration and downstream data consumption.
  • Drive data quality issue triage and remediation by analyzing rule failures, assist Data Stewards with root-cause investigation, validating fixes, and improving preventative controls to reduce recurring defects.
  • Build and maintain KPI dashboards and management reporting for data management programs (e.g., onboarding progress, ADS coverage, data quality control execution, certification status), enabling transparent delivery tracking and decision-making.
  • Update and modify the Infrastructure Platform MyCDO site by publishing data governance assessments requirements and results, remediation plans, ADS statistics, forums and training content, and curated standards that reinforce plarform Data Management and responsible AI data practices.
  • Support data governance communications, training, and adoption activities across the Infrastructure Platform organization.

To be successful in this role, we're seeking the following:
  • Bachelor's degree in Analytics, Data Science, Information Systems, or a related discipline (or equivalent work experience). **EXPERIENCE:** Typically 6-10 years of experience. **SKILLS:** - Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities. - Excellent communication skills.
  • 3-7 years of experience in Data Governance, Data Quality, Metadata Management, Master Data Management, or Data Management disciplines.
  • Experience with data governance and metadata management tools, preferably Collibra.
  • Understanding of data lineage, business glossaries, metadata management, data ownership, and Critical Data Elements (CDEs).
  • Experience defining and monitoring data quality controls, metrics, and remediation processes.
  • Proficiency with SQL and data analysis techniques for data profiling, validation, and issue investigation.
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills with the ability to work across business and technology teams.

BNY assesses market data to ensure a competitive compensation package for our employees. The base salary for this position is expected to be between $69,000 and $160,000 per year at the commencement of employment. However, base salary if hired will be determined on an individualized basis, including as to experience and market location, and is only part of the BNY total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, discretionary bonuses, short and long-term incentive packages, and Company-sponsored benefit programs.
This position is at-will and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, change in geographic location, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
