Job Description

Title: Data Excellence Manager

Location: Toronto, Canada

About the role:

As the Data Excellence Manager, you will enable Takeda Canada's data-driven decisions by ensuring critical local data is trusted, usable, and aligned with enterprise standards. You will strengthen the foundation for analytics, reporting, and data products by improving data quality, stewardship, and interoperability across the LOC. You will be a hands-on leader, the role helps translate data into scalable business value for Canada.

Reporting Manager: Head of DD&T, Canada

How will you contribute:

  • Serve as strategic business partner for data excellence. Collaborate with cross-functional partners (commercial, medical, access, PSP) and IBU to assess, prioritize, and implement new data use cases that enable value realization. Coordinate with vendors and cross-functional partners to ensure data sourcing meets LOC needs. When assessing new use cases, apply the LOC's shared requirements-discovery method to confirm the underlying problem (data, process, or technology) before committing to a data solution, partnering with the Data Products Manager and the Tech & AI Partner's intake ('front door').

  • Own and execute the LOC data roadmap. Continuously assess the state of data and insight needs in Canada, maintain a prioritized backlog of data tasks (integrations, quality fixes, new data sources), execute against it, and provide transparent progress updates to stakeholders. Ensure data standards and integrations support campaign execution, monitoring, and performance measurement aligned with global and IBU frameworks.

  • Lead data stewardship, governance, and documentation. Perform hands-on stewardship activities: data owner/steward touchpoints, dataset reviews, and issue triage. Lead Master Data Management implementation and validation (e.g., HCP/HCO master data). Apply and maintain global data standards locally - align field names/values to global definitions, maintain mapping tables, and document exceptions. Create and maintain data dictionaries, lineage notes, business rules, and usage guidance so analysts and product teams can confidently consume data.

  • Drive data quality monitoring and remediation. Operate recurring data quality checks (completeness, accuracy, consistency, timeliness), identify root causes with source system SMEs, and implement fixes - ensuring critical datasets are reliable and fit for purpose.

  • Execute data integration, ingestion, and always-on customer data flow into CDP. Perform or directly drive the practical steps to onboard data sources into EDB and enable reliable downstream flow e.g. into CDP: source profiling, extraction requirements, transformation logic, validation rules, deduplication, consent-compliance controls, and publishing steps. Ensure customer data is unified, quality-checked, and continuously flowing to support activation, analytics, and business execution. Partner with the CRM/CXF Manager on TakedaConnect migration into CXF, ensuring continuity of customer journey capabilities. Partner with ICC/GCM delivery teams to ensure scalable, standardized delivery.

  • Serve as a hands-on data ambassador. Raise data fluency and governance capabilities across the LOC through practical enablement: training sessions, office hours, playbooks, and worked examples that improve how teams request, interpret, and use data - building confidence and consistency.

What you bring to Takeda:

  • University degree in a relevant field such as data management, information systems, computer science, analytics, business, or a related discipline.

  • 5-7 years of experience in data management, data governance, data integration, or related disciplines.

  • Demonstrates a growth mindset, with openness to feedback, continuous learning, and adapting quickly in a changing business and technology environment.

  • Hands-on experience with regulated data domains (e.g., HCP/HCO, PSP, consented customer data, financial data) in a pharmaceutical or regulated industry context.

  • Working knowledge of SQL, data platforms (e.g., Databricks), BI tools (e.g., Power BI), ETL processes, and data modelling.

  • Strong understanding of Master Data Management, data quality frameworks, and data governance principles.

  • Familiarity with pharmaceutical data ecosystems, compliance, privacy, and audit requirements.

  • Experience with Agile delivery methodologies and backlog management.

  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate between technical and non-technical language and drive cross-functional alignment.
  • Detail-oriented and quality-driven - takes pride in ensuring data is accurate, well-documented, and fit for purpose.

  • Proactively identifies and resolves data issues before they impact downstream products and decisions.

  • Bridge technical data work with business context - communicates data governance concepts in language stakeholders understand and value.

  • Build trust through transparency: keeps stakeholders informed on data status, roadmap progress, and known limitations.
