Position Description
The Data Engineer is responsible for designing, building, and maintaining Legacy Infrastructure Group's data and integration platforms. This role develops reliable data pipelines, integrations, and reporting data models that enable sound business decisions and support the organization's business intelligence and AI initiatives. The Data Engineer partners with operational and functional teams to translate business needs into scalable, secure, and high-performing data solutions.
Key Functional Responsibilities and Accountabilities
Data Platform and Architecture Responsibilities
• Design, build, and maintain efficient, reliable data pipelines that support data integration and data flow across the organization.
• Manage, optimize, and document core data architecture to support scalable, secure, and high-performing data solutions.
• Develop and maintain data models and architecture for the reporting platform, ensuring data quality, usability, scalability, and performance.
• Design and implement integration-platform capabilities and integrations between business systems, applications, and data sources.
• Evaluate and apply Azure data services, ETL tools, and related technologies to meet evolving business needs.
Business Intelligence and Collaboration Responsibilities
• Partner with cross-functional stakeholders to gather requirements, define data needs, and deliver solutions aligned with business objectives.
• Support reporting, analytics, and AI initiatives by preparing trusted, accessible data sets and enabling effective data delivery.
• Communicate complex data concepts, solution options, and project status clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Collaborate with IT and business teams to identify opportunities to automate data processes and improve data accessibility and reliability.
Other Responsibilities
• Maintain clear documentation for data pipelines, integrations, data models, standards, and operating procedures.
• Monitor and troubleshoot data pipelines, integrations, and data-quality issues; resolve problems in a timely manner and implement preventative improvements.
• Stay current on relevant data engineering, Azure, BI, and AI technologies and recommend practical enhancements to the data environment.
• Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Position Requirements
Minimum Requirements, Abilities and Expectations
• 3+ years of experience as a Data Engineer with a proven track record maintaining a data environment and building data integrations.
• Proficiency in SQL, Python, and other data manipulation languages.
• Experience with Azure data services and ETL tools.
• Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to convey complex data concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
Preferred Requirements
• Experience implementing or managing a data ecosystem in Azure
• Certifications in Azure or related data engineering technologies.
• Experience in automating data processes and optimizing data delivery.
• Familiarity with AI technologies and connecting them with large data sets.
• Experience with building integrations with Viewpoint/Trimble ERP applications.
• Expertise in Power BI, including data modeling, DAX calculations, and report development.
