Full Job Description
Location: La Jolla, CA; Edina, MN

The Details:

As a Data Engineer at Palomar, you will play a critical role in designing, building, and maintaining our data solutions. You will be responsible for building scalable data assets and tooling based on larger data strategy and business needs. You will also work closely with our Quality Engineering team and Business Intelligence team on a regular basis to support the larger Palomar Data strategy.

What will you do:

  • Design and Build Data Pipelines:
    • Develop and maintain ELT (Extract, Load, Transform) processes to ingest data from various sources.
    • Partner with Data Operations team to monitor pipelines and systems for issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement solutions.
  • Data Solutioning
    • Partner with subject matter experts and solutions architects to create scalable data assets and tooling
  • Database Management:
    • Design, implement, and manage relational database.
    • Partner with our Data Operations team to troubleshoot and optimize database performance and storage.
  • Data Integration & Normalization:
    • Integrate data from internal and external sources.
    • Ensure data cleanliness, consistency, and integrity within our data solutions.
  • Data Quality and Governance:
    • Partner with Quality Engineering team to implement data quality checks and validation processes.
    • Enforce data governance policies to ensure compliance and data security.
  • Collaboration:
    • Work closely with Quality Engineering team, Business Intelligence team, and subject matter experts to understand data requirements in order to recommend and implement ideal solutions.
  • Documentation:
    • Maintain comprehensive documentation of data workflows, processes, and systems.

What we are looking for:

  • 4+ years of experience in data engineering or a related role; insurance experience strongly preferred.

Pay Range: $105,000 - $145,000 + Bonus Potential & Participation in our Competitive Long-Term Incentive (LTI) Program.

The above pay range is for all US-based roles based on function and level, benchmarked against companies of similar size and scope. To be compliant with local legislation as well as provide greater transparency to candidates, we disclose salary ranges on all job postings regardless of the desired job location. We also offer a competitive annual discretionary bonus program and the opportunity for annual long-term incentive stock grants. In addition, we offer a highly competitive benefits package.
