Data Engineer
What You'll Do- Work closely with quants, portfolio managers, risk managers and other engineers to develop data intensive and multi-asset analytics for our Fixed Income, Risk, and Commodities businesses
- Gather requirements and user feedback in collaboration with fellow engineers and project leads
- Provide expertise, guidance, and support on a variety of database platforms to end users and developers, including data model reviews and query and system performance tuning
- Define and enforce database standards and best practices for database development and security
- Review and upgrade database maintenance processes and monitoring and alerting capabilities in accordance with best practices
- Work closely with DevOps engineers to build AI powered tools and automation for data pipelines, database maintenance tasks, and system monitoring
- Stay abreast of industry trends, new database platforms and data engineering tools
What You Bring- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or another scientific field.
- 2+ years of experience in data/database engineering, database administration, or a related role, with a track record of designing, building, and maintaining reliable, scalable data pipelines and platforms
- Strong experience with SQL and relational database technologies, including Microsoft SQL Server and PostgreSQL; experience with MongoDB or other NoSQL databases is a plus
- Experience with cloud data platforms and services in AWS and/or GCP, including cloud data lakes and open table/file formats such as Amazon S3, Parquet, Iceberg, and Hive; experience with Starburst/Trino is a plus
- Experience with modern data warehouse, analytics, and distributed processing technologies such as Snowflake, ClickHouse, Spark, or Databricks, along with monitoring and observability platforms such as Datadog or Grafana
- Familiarity with data modeling, data quality, schema evolution, metadata management, and data governance practices
- Familiarity with AI/ML concepts and experience integrating AI services and LLMs into data workflows, automation, or analytics products
- Proficiency working in Unix/Linux environments with scripting or programming languages such as Python or Java, paired with demonstrated ownership, attention to detail, thoroughness, and a collaborative, quick-learning mindset
Salary RangeMillennium offers a total compensation package which includes a base salary, discretionary performance bonus, and comprehensive benefits. The estimated base salary range for this position is $175,000 to $250,000, which is specific to New York and may change in the future. When finalizing an offer, we take into consideration an individual's experience level and the qualifications they bring to the role to formulate a competitive total compensation package.
