The Enterprise FinOps team is a key pillar within the Integrated Data, Engineering & Analytics organization. We are seeking a Data Engineer II to join our team and help deliver scalable data solutions that support public cloud financial management. This role will focus on building and maintaining data pipelines, supporting analytics and reporting capabilities, and improving data quality, automation, and access to insights that enable more effective financial and operational decision-making.

Responsibilities

  • Build, maintain, and optimize data pipelines and workflows that support cloud financial management, reporting, and analytics use cases.
  • Design and support data models, transformations, and datasets that enable accurate, timely, and scalable dashboarding and self-service reporting.
  • Partner with Finance, Engineering, Product, and analytics stakeholders to translate business needs into effective data solutions.
  • Develop and support dashboards, curated datasets, and recurring data products delivered to end users on a consistent cadence.
  • Maintain and enhance data infrastructure that supports both internal analytics and customer-facing or self-service access patterns.
  • Contribute to automation initiatives that improve data quality, operational efficiency, and the reliability of reporting processes.
  • Apply best practices in data engineering, governance, and cloud cost data management to continuously improve platform capabilities.
  • Support data integration and cost attribution solutions by working closely with engineers, analysts, and business partners across the organization.


Qualifications

  • Foundational knowledge of data engineering concepts, including data pipelines, ETL/ELT processes, and structured data management.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work with large datasets and support data-driven decision-making.
  • Strong data modeling skills. Apptio Cloudability and Apptio TBM a plus
  • Proficiency with data visualization and reporting tools such as Power BI or Tableau.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of database management systems and related ecosystems
  • Experience in SQL and Python (or other similar programming languages)
  • Experience with Agile methodologies is desirable
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and manage multiple tasks and projects with competing deadlines
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and business needs while maintaining focus on key objectives.
  • Employment eligibility to work with American Express in the United States is required as the company will not pursue visa sponsorship for these positions.
