Responsibilities

  • Support development and maintenance of system architecture and Interface Control Documents (ICDs)
  • Produce pre & post Communications CDRL requirements including design and test materials
  • Update closeout documentation for final acceptance procedures

Compensation

$85000 - $110000 / year

Position Summary

The Data Communications Engineer has full responsibility to translate contractual and system requirements through all facets of the process including design through construction, testing and commissioning of the project. Work as part of a team to develop the overall communications designs and integration with existing customer system such that there are no scope gaps, and the systems are functional and acceptable to the customer.

Primary/Essential Responsibilities and Duties
• On design-build projects, ensure that design development stays within the confines of how the project was bid to avoid scope creep.
• Produce and/or review design packages (schematics, wiring/cabling plans. Cabinet/rack layouts and interfaces following the project schedule.
• Execute all engineering tasks (high- and low-level design, equipment location planning, cable route and rack planning) of telecom subsystem Radio Systems.
• Support development and maintenance of system architecture and Interface Control Documents (ICDs)
• Producing the project's pre & post Communications CDRL requirements including product data, design, test procedures, test reports, O&M Manuals & Training Material submittals
• Update all required close out documentation that is required to be submitted and approved to achieve final acceptance

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in engineering (Electrical, Electronics, Telecommunications, Automation or similar). Minimum 5 years of experience in railways - North American Transit experience would be a benefit
  • Basic knowledge of railway signaling and communication protocols
  • Familiar with the following subsystems:
  • CCTV Systems
  • Intrusion Detection Systems
  • PA Systems
  • SCADA
  • Networking and/or radio technologies
  • Passenger Information Systems
  • Access Control Systems
  • Experience with base Microsoft Office Programs
  • Experience with AutoCAD is preferred, but not required
  • Ability to meet deadlines

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
