Full Job Description
In this role, the main focus will be on capacity planning, forecasting, and lifecycle management across Micron's global data center and hybrid cloud infrastructure environments. You will partner closely with Manufacturing, Engineering, SMAI, and Corporate IT teams to translate business demand into actionable infrastructure plans while driving capacity optimization, refresh planning, and governance processes. This role will employ AI-enabled tools, advanced analytics, automation, predictive modeling, and digital infrastructure planning capabilities to improve forecasting accuracy, investment decisions, operational efficiency, and infrastructure readiness. You will help ensure compute, storage, network, power, cooling, and facility resources are available to support business growth, operational resilience, AI workloads, and technology modernization across Micron's global infrastructure portfolio! Responsibilities: • Capacity Planning & Operations: Maintain a comprehensive view of global infrastructure capacity across on-premises and cloud environments, including compute, storage, network, power, cooling, and rack space. Track available, allocated, landed, and stranded capacity by region, platform, business unit, and service tier. Monitor infrastructure utilization and demand trends to identify capacity risks, utilization opportunities, and gaps against forecasted demand. Partner with infrastructure operations, cloud engineering, SRE, and service owners to ensure capacity supports business and operational requirements. Drive reallocation and reclamation of underutilized infrastructure resources to improve efficiency and enhance investment value. Leverage AI-enabled tools and automation to improve capacity data collection, reporting, forecasting accuracy, and operational efficiency. • Forecasting & Optimization: Develop rolling 3-, 6-, 12-, and 24-month capacity forecasts using business demand signals, utilization trends, technology roadmaps, manufacturing requirements, and infrastructure lifecycle plans. Use AI-assisted forecasting, predictive analytics, and digital modeling capabilities to identify trends, predict future infrastructure demand, and improve decisions related to prioritising resources. Evaluate future capacity requirements and recommend growth, refresh, consolidation, and retirement strategies. Perform scenario modeling and digital infrastructure planning to assess the impact of demand growth, technology transitions, supply constraints, cloud adoption, resiliency requirements, business continuity events, and evolving AI workload demand. Find opportunities to improve infrastructure utilization through rightsizing, capacity reclamation, workload placement optimization, automation, and cloud consumption management. Drive adoption of AI-enabled planning capabilities to improve decision-making, scenario analysis, and infrastructure investment planning. Partner with procurement, finance, and platform teams to translate forecasts into purchasing plans, budget requirements, and deployment schedules. • Governance & Lifecycle Management: Establish and manage capacity planning processes, standards, and governance practices across hybrid infrastructure environments. Define policies for capacity buffers, refresh timing, utilization thresholds, allocation methodologies, and lifecycle management. Lead recurring capacity review sessions with business and technology team members to communicate risks, trade-offs, recommendations, and investment needs. Ensure capacity plans align with resiliency, security, compliance, and operational readiness requirements. Maintain accurate forecasting, allocation, refresh, and procurement records to support planning, audit, and business decision-making needs. Drive adoption of data-driven planning methodologies, automation, and continuous improvement practices to enhance infrastructure decision-making. • Reporting & Stakeholder Engagement: Develop and maintain executive-level dashboards, metrics, and reporting to support capacity and investment decisions. Provide data-driven recommendations to technology and business leaders regarding infrastructure growth, lifecycle risks, utilization trends, optimization opportunities, and AI infrastructure readiness. Collaborate across TE&I, Manufacturing, SMAI, TPG/EDA, Finance, Procurement, and Corporate IT to ensure alignment between demand forecasts and infrastructure readiness. Present capacity forecasts, investment recommendations, risk assessments, and future planning insights to technical and business partners. Minimum Qualifications: • Bachelor's degree in IT, Computer Science, Engineering, Business, or a related field, or equivalent experience. • 5+ years of experience in infrastructure engineering, cloud operations, data center operations, capacity planning, or technology lifecycle management. • Experience supporting enterprise infrastructure environments, including compute, storage, networking, cloud, and data center technologies. • Strong analytical, forecasting, reporting, automation, operational planning, and problem-solving skills, with experience presenting recommendations to executive team members. • Demonstrable ability to employ AI-powered tools and data analytics to improve business outcomes while collaborating effectively across technical and business teams. Preferred Qualifications: • Experience supporting large-scale global data center, cloud, and enterprise infrastructure environments. • Strong knowledge of capacity planning, forecasting, predictive analytics, and infrastructure lifecycle management. • Experience demonstrating AI-enabled analytics, intelligent automation, digital twins, and infrastructure planning tools. • Expertise in FinOps, resource optimization, utilization management, and cloud capacity planning. • Familiarity with ITIL, SRE, modern service management practices, reporting platforms (Power BI, Tableau, ServiceNow), and infrastructure requirements for AI, HPC, and advanced analytics workloads.
