Summary
The Data Analyst will design, build, and govern Power BI semantic models powered by Microsoft Fabric, leveraging OneLake as the centralized data foundation for trusted, high-performing analytics. Working within the Information Technology department and partnering closely with the Data Engineer, this role translates business requirements into curated Lakehouse/warehouse data, measures, and dashboards that deliver consistent, actionable insights. The ideal candidate combines strong data modeling and Power BI expertise with a customer-focused mindset, ensuring analytics solutions are accurate, secure, and scalable.
Essential Functions
• Collaborate with BI team to execute a comprehensive BI strategy aligned with business goals.
• Develop and maintain Power BI Semantic models, reports, and dashboards, ensuring performance and usability.
• Lead the implementation of data governance, security, and compliance practices across BI systems.
• Drive the adoption of DevOps and CI/CD practices for Power Bi data analytic workflows.
• Ensure data quality, lineage, and documentation across all data assets.
• Support data migration, transformation, and integration efforts across legacy and modern systems.
• Collaborate with business stakeholders to gather requirements and insights and translate them into scalable BI solutions.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to team members and cross-functional collaborators.
• Participate in strategic planning for BI initiatives and contribute to the overall data strategy.
• Collaborate with Data Analysts outside of the IT department to accomplish corporate reporting goals.
• Provide off-hours support and assist with special projects as needed.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Technical Expertise:
• Proficiency in Azure Synapse Analytics and Microsoft Fabric
• Strong skills and experience with Power BI Semantic Model and Dashboard development.
• Strong skills and experience with T-SQL, DAX, MDX, and Python.
• Familiarity with Delta Lake, Parquet, and data lakehouse architecture.
Strategic Thinking:
• Ability to design BI solutions aligned with business goals and long-term scalability.
• Experience defining and implementing BI governance frameworks.
Collaboration & Communication:
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills to work with technical and non-technical stakeholders, including
Operations, Engineering, Sales, and Accounting.
• Spanish proficiency preferred.
Problem-Solving & Initiative:
• Self-starter with the ability to troubleshoot, document, and resolve data issues independently.
• Passion for continuous learning and innovation in data technologies.
Project & Time Management:
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver high-quality work under tight deadlines.
• Experience leading or contributing to Agile/Scrum-based projects is a plus.
Education and Experience
• Bachelor's degree in Business, Computer Science, or a related field.
• Minimum 3 years of experience with advanced data modeling and BI software (Power BI).
• Proficiency in MDX, DAX.
• Experience in Python, SQL, and JSON API integrations preferred.
• Experience with Microsoft Azure tools (Synapse, Fabric, SSIS).
• Strong cross-functional communication skills (Operations, Engineering, Sales, Accounting).
• Spanish proficiency preferred.
