Full Job Description
Leidos Dynetics' Advanced Materials Department is seeking a passionate, detail-oriented problem-solver to serve as a Cybersecurity Architecture Engineer. With offices across the United States engaging in the defense, space, cyber and commercial fields, Leidos provides responsive, cost-effective engineering, scientific and IT solutions. The Cybersecurity Architecture Engineer will serve as a system and network administrator for multiple departmental environments, ensuring security, compliance, and operational continuity. This role will collaborate with cybersecurity leadership, department management, users, and auditors to maintain ATO status and protect the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of all systems and data.

The Advanced Materials Department is a multi-disciplinary team that provides materials engineering expertise for every phase of a program. With backgrounds in materials science, chemistry/chemical engineering, physics, among others, the department has experience in executing a variety of efforts from R&D to prototype development, to supporting design and building tasks for manufacturing. Beyond subject matter expertise, the department has analysis equipment, multi-physics modelling capability, and experimental lab space to support activities ranging from proof-of-concept experimentation to manufacturing support.

Primary Responsibilities:

Environment and Compliance Management
  • Oversee secure system and network environments in alignment with compliance requirements.
  • Coordinate with security and operations teams to maintain ongoing authorization and compliance.
  • Manage user access, permissions, and overall environment security posture.
  • Maintain system baselines, documentation, and core operational artifacts.
  • Monitor audit logs and ensure appropriate logging practices.
  • Support patching, configuration management, and controlled system updates.
  • Provide administration and operational support for containerized environments.

Security Incidents and Maintenance
  • Act as the primary contact for environment security issues.
  • Coordinate incident investigation, documentation, and remediation efforts.
  • Oversee maintenance activities and enforce secure operational practices.

Risk and Security Assessments
  • Conduct ongoing risk evaluations of the environment.
  • Support vulnerability management efforts and track remediation progress.
  • Maintain compliance documentation and update security plans as required.

Audit Preparation and Support
  • Support preparation and activities for internal and external cybersecurity audits.

Isolated and Specialized Asset Maintenance
  • Manage and support specialized or isolated systems with controlled change processes.

Stakeholder Communication and Change Coordination
  • Communicate environment changes and updates to stakeholders.
  • Collaborate across teams to plan, review, and validate proposed changes.


Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 3.0 GPA in Cybersecurity Engineering or another related field from an ABET accredited university.
  • Experience with containerization (Docker, Podman, Kubernetes, etc.).
  • Understanding of system administration concepts, networking fundamentals, and basic troubleshooting.
  • Understanding of logging, auditing, and incident response workflows.
  • Familiarity with cybersecurity principles such as least privilege, authentication methods, and secure system configuration.
  • Strong communication skills for collaborating with technical teams, end users, and management.
  • Ability to follow and conduct documented procedures, security requirements, and change management processes.
  • Ability to learn new technologies quickly and work in a structured, compliance driven environment.
  • Ability to work in both collaborative team environments and independently.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret Security Clearance.
  • Must be a resident or willing to relocate to the Huntsville, AL area to work on-site.
  • U.S. citizenship required.


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience involving system administration, scripting, or security operations.
  • Experience with Kubernetes, container orchestration, or DevOps tooling.
  • Experience with isolated or restricted computing environments.
  • Understanding of version control, configuration management basics, or automation/scripting (Python, PowerShell, Bash, etc.).
  • Familiarity with NIST/CMMC frameworks, vulnerability scanning tools, or compliance documentation.

Pay Range:
Pay Range $57,850.00 - $104,575.00
