Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for a Cybersecurity / Anti Tamper Threat and Design Modeling - NG Fellow 1 reporting to the Airworthiness & Weapon Systems Cybersecurity (AWWSC) Directorate. This position can be worked out of El Segundo, Redondo Beach, Palmdale, San Diego, CA, Oklahoma City, OK, or Melbourne, FL. This position requires on site work and no remote or hybrid work is available.

This position supports all Aeronautics Systems products at the system level, focusing on advanced aircraft systems comprised of multiple hardware/software subsystems. The role will collaborate across programs and sites with engineering, digital transformation, cybersecurity, and anti-tamper (AT) teams to define and institutionalize sector wide approaches to cyber and AT threat and design modeling in a digital engineering ecosystem.

The AWWSC directorate is positioned to drive robust and efficient system development activities within the Aeronautics Systems Engineering organization by equipping our teams with the processes, tools, and technical training needed to succeed and grow. Leaders within AWWSC are at the heart of our relentless pursuit of engineering excellence, driving sustained improvement and ensuring that our technical capabilities stay ahead of emerging challenges and opportunities in the cyber and anti tamper domain.

The intent is to bring in an industry level expert (externally or from within NG) who will focus on advancing our security analysis capabilities in our system models and shaping NG Aeronautics Systems (NGAS) to be the industry leader in cyber and anti tamper threat analysis across our portfolio of systems. This key technical leadership role is responsible for providing technical leadership across the execution of multiple programs as well as discipline focused initiatives in digital engineering based cybersecurity and AT modeling and analysis. This is not a remote role; the selected candidate will be based at one of these Aeronautics Systems sites, while providing support across the broader NGAS portfolio.

The NG Fellow 1 will leverage their deep technical expertise and serve as a subject matter expert and focal in cyber and AT threat and design modeling for the Aeronautics Systems sector, the corporation, and the broader industry. This leader will collaborate closely with AWWSC leadership and technical staff, other Center of Technical Excellence discipline leaders, division and program leaders, and leaders from partner organizations within Engineering, Strategy and Business Development, Cybersecurity, and other Sector and Enterprise organizations to establish advanced tools and processes that elevate NGAS to a position of unparalleled technical leadership.

The Cyber / Anti Tamper Threat and Design Modeling NG Fellow 1 will provide vision and leadership in the conduct of complex analytical, developmental, design, and demonstration assignments related to modeling cybersecurity and anti tamper vulnerabilities and protections at the system level within a model based digital engineering environment.

Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
• Set the standards for modeling cybersecurity and anti tamper vulnerabilities and protections in the digital engineering ecosystem at the system level, where the system is comprised of multiple hardware/software subsystems.
• Define and institutionalize methods to model system interfaces (hardware, software, and human) with multi level security considerations, including how those interfaces may be exploited by sophisticated adversaries.
• Define system level cybersecurity and anti tamper requirements, and provide subject matter expert leadership for appropriate allocation and decomposition of these requirements to lower level subsystems.
• Define sector wide standards, patterns, and best practices for implementing cybersecurity and anti tamper in a digital engineering ecosystem, including integration with MBSE, digital thread, and digital twin environments.
• Develop, mature, and standardize security related MBSE constructs, models, and analysis methods for assessing vulnerabilities and security risks of system architecture designs in the digital modeling environment.
• Lead the incorporation of AI/ML enabled cyber analysis into NGAS modeling efforts, including the design and deployment of advanced digital tools and workflows (e.g., AI/ML analytics, automated workflows, rules based model checks) that leverage the digital ecosystem to provide next level cybersecurity and AT protections for aircraft systems.
• Work in close collaboration with the all stakeholders to establish, validate, and deploy these advanced tools and processes across the NGAS portfolio, ensuring consistency, scalability, and continuous improvement.
• Provide direct or consulting technical leadership on cyber and AT threat and design modeling statement of work for programs spanning early advanced development, EMD, production, and sustainment.
• Lead or participate in independent technical review teams focused on cyber and AT modeling, uncover and resolve complex challenges, and present findings and recommendations to program and executive leadership.
• Serve as a spokesperson for the company's technical capabilities and future direction related to cyber/AT threat and design modeling, including preparation and presentation of technical briefings to internal and external stakeholders.
• Influence technology roadmaps and investment strategies in cyber/AT modeling, digital engineering, and enabling tools to maintain a state of the art capability and keep NGAS at the forefront of industry practice.
• Attract new business with existing and new customers by supporting capture, proposal preparation, and concept development activities where cyber and AT modeling are key discriminators.
• Drive knowledge sharing, coaching, and mentoring across the engineering workforce to build depth and breadth in cyber/AT threat and design modeling competencies and to grow the next generation of technical leaders in this discipline.

Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's, Master's, and/or PhD in a STEM related field (e.g., Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Cybersecurity) and robust industry related experience; typically 20 years' experience with a BS, 18 years' experience with an MS, or 16 years' experience with a PhD in increasingly responsible technical roles.
  • Must have deep technical expertise in cybersecurity and/or anti tamper for complex systems, including threat modeling, vulnerability assessment, and/ or design of protective measures at the system level.
  • Experience applying model based systems engineering (MBSE) or digital engineering approaches to represent system architectures, interfaces, requirements, and behaviors.
  • Experience defining and flowing down system level cybersecurity and/or anti tamper requirements, and collaborating with multi disciplinary teams to decompose and implement those requirements at subsystem/component levels.
  • Experience in developing, standardizing, and deploying methods, tools, and best practices for security analysis within digital models across multiple programs or product lines.
  • Experience in leading cross functional teams, influence without direct authority, and communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non technical stakeholders.
  • Must have a current U.S. Government Top Secret security clearance (or higher), with a background investigation completed or updated within the last 5 years, or be on Continuous Evaluation.
  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) clearance, within a reasonable amount of time as determined by business need.
  • U.S. citizenship is required.


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's or PhD in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a closely related discipline. Experience integrating or applying AI/ML techniques to support cyber threat analysis, anomaly detection, or vulnerability assessment in complex systems, preferably within a digital engineering/MBSE environment.
  • Evidence of leadership consistent with Northrop Grumman Leadership Behaviors.
  • Experience architecting and implementing digital engineering ecosystems that integrate MBSE tools, configuration management, data environments, and analysis tools for cyber/AT use cases.
  • Hands on experience with threat modeling and security analysis methods (e.g., attack trees, STRIDE, STPA Sec, misuse/abuse cases) and their application to complex, safety critical or mission critical systems.
  • Experience developing or applying security focused MBSE profiles, libraries, or stereotypes to represent vulnerabilities, protections, and security constraints in system models.
  • Familiarity with relevant cybersecurity and AT standards, frameworks, and guidance (e.g., NIST, DoD cyber/AT directives, RMF, Zero Trust concepts) and their application in an air systems context.
  • Experience leveraging AI/ML or advanced analytics within a digital engineering environment to automate or enhance security assessments, design trades, or model based checks.
  • Demonstrated record of external technical impact, such as patents, publications, conference presentations, standards participation, or recognized industry leadership in cybersecurity/AT modeling or digital engineering.
  • Experience supporting capture and proposal activities, including development of technical volumes, discriminators, and approaches centered on cyber and AT capabilities.
  • Strong history of mentoring, coaching, and talent development in highly technical domains.


Primary Level Salary Range: $179,400.00 - $328,900.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
