About the job Culinary Scientist
As a Culinary Scientist, you will have a high level of technical expertise and understanding of different cooking methods, ingredients, and cuisines. You will perform timely and accurate duties at the bench in formulation and processing, based on scientific principles and discipline, with the end goal of servicing the overall business strategy and development.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
- Support the culinary direction within the team and provide technical expertise in assigned projects
- Play an active role in all stages of product development, from ideation to manufacturing, including design of experiment, bench top development, and supporting scale up trials
- Ensure that all formulas, development notes and analysis are well-documented and accurate
- Ensure all products in development ladder to our five core pillars, with a focus on Delicious, Nutritious, & Sustainable.
- Stay on top of food trends, manufacturing processes, and culinary innovations
- Structure, host, and synthesize sensory evaluations of products in development and competitive samples
WHAT YOU'LL BRING TO CHEW
For this role, were seeking candidates with the following qualifications:
- Degree in Food Science/ Culinology®/ Culinary Arts or related field
- 5-10 years of relevant professional experience within the food and beverage industry
- Hands-on experience in development of food formulation using laboratory instrumentation, pilot plant equipment, and scale-up a plus
- Ability to balance multiple project timelines and priorities

- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to lead technical teams; as developing subject matter expert in two or more of the following areas: beverage, bakery, chocolate, freezing, gastronomy, HPP etc.
- Experience in food ingredient technology including but not limited to hydrocolloids, proteins, starches, and emulsifiers preferred
- Ability to identify technical and project opportunities, and navigate complex business relationships or situations
