Position SummaryMISTRAS Group is seeking an experienced
Corrosion Under Insulation (CUI) Support Lead to support field operations at the Kuparuk River Unit on Alaska's North Slope. This position provides leadership and operational support to CUI technicians and crew members while helping ensure safe, efficient, and compliant execution of field activities.
The CUI Support Lead will serve as a key point of contact between field crews, coordinators, inspectors, management, and internal and external stakeholders. This role combines
field leadership, safety oversight, crew support, administrative responsibilities, and operational coordination.
Key Responsibilities- Promote and maintain a strong safety culture and ensure crew members follow company and client safety standards and are fit for work each day.
- Serve as a safety leader and ensure all work is performed in accordance with company policies, client requirements, and applicable State and Federal regulations.
- Collaborate with Coordinators and ConocoPhillips Inspector personnel to support field operations.
- Expedite tools, materials, PPE, and other required resources to the field to maximize productivity and time on tools.
- Spend approximately 50% of the workday in the field, providing hands-on support as needed.
- Conduct inspections and field observations to verify compliance with quality standards and safety protocols.
- Serve as a point of contact for internal and external stakeholders, providing updates, responding to inquiries, and supporting effective communication.
- Provide leadership, mentoring, training, and on-the-job support to CUI Technicians and crew members.
- Promote teamwork and professional development within the CUI team.
- Identify opportunities to reduce workforce and equipment downtime, eliminate waste, and improve operational efficiency.
- Participate in JSAs, job walkdowns, and other safety activities.
- Identify, report, and address unsafe conditions, behaviors, incidents, and potential safety concerns.
- Document injuries and near-miss incidents and assist with investigations as required.
- Ensure required HSE training, asbestos abatement certifications, physicals, and other mandatory requirements are maintained.
Administrative & Operational ResponsibilitiesThe CUI Support Lead will also assist with day-to-day administrative and operational activities, including:
- Review and maintain accurate crew timesheets and hours worked.
- Coordinate flight changes and employee travel arrangements.
- Assist with FMLA and LOA requests.
- Monitor and document daily crew loading and personnel counts.
- Manage and document MOCs (Management of Change).
- Participate in the hiring process, including reviewing applications, conducting interviews, and providing hiring recommendations.
- Coordinate internal and external material procurement to ensure necessary resources are available when needed.
- Complete and coordinate DOL notifications as required.
- Maintain DOT-OQ logs, training records, and certification documentation.
- Assist with expense reports and ensure proper supporting documentation is provided for reimbursement.
- Support other administrative and operational duties as assigned by the Superintendent.
Qualifications- Experience in Corrosion Under Insulation (CUI), NDT, inspection, industrial services, or a related field preferred.
- Previous field leadership, crew lead, supervisory, or coordination experience preferred.
- Strong understanding of workplace safety requirements and field safety practices.
- Ability to work effectively in a remote, industrial environment.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and respond effectively to changing field conditions.
- Ability to work collaboratively with technicians, inspectors, coordinators, clients, and management.
- Proficiency with documentation, recordkeeping, and administrative tasks.
- Ability to travel and work a rotational North Slope schedule.
- Must be able to meet all client and site-specific training, certification, physical, and safety requirements.
