About the role

The Critical Facility Manager (CFM) is responsible for the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of Prime Data Centers' mission-critical facilities. This role oversees all electrical, mechanical, and fire/life safety systems to maintain maximum uptime while leading site operations, maintenance, vendor management, and operational projects. The CFM serves as the primary technical leader for the facility, managing staff, driving continuous improvement, and ensuring compliance with operational, safety, and customer standards.

The ideal candidate is a hands-on technical leader with deep mission-critical infrastructure experience who can lead teams, manage complex facility operations, improve reliability, oversee vendors, and deliver operational excellence in a 24/7 data center environment.

What you'll do

  • Lead day-to-day operations and maintenance of all critical facility infrastructure.
  • Ensure maximum uptime through preventive maintenance, corrective repairs, and emergency response.
  • Manage Operations Technicians, providing leadership, training, coaching, and performance oversight.
  • Serve as the primary escalation point for facility-related issues and perform root cause analysis of equipment failures.
  • Oversee vendor performance, safety compliance, and customer relationships.
  • Lead capital improvements and operational projects from planning through implementation.
  • Develop and implement operational procedures, best practices, and site standards.
  • Monitor facility performance, document maintenance activities, and communicate status to leadership.
  • Electrical distribution (480V, medium voltage, switchgear, UPS, STS/ATS, generators)
  • Mechanical systems (HVAC, CRAC/CRAH, chillers, cooling towers, pumps, VFDs, water treatment)
  • Building automation and monitoring systems (BMS/EPMS)
  • Fire/life safety systems and NFPA/NEC compliance
  • Troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and preventive maintenance
  • Microsoft Office and computerized monitoring systems

Qualifications

Required

  • 5+ years of experience in data centers, mission-critical facilities, or similar environments.
  • Technical degree or equivalent industry experience.
  • Strong leadership and project management skills.
  • CPR/First Aid and NFPA 70E certification (or ability to obtain).

Preferred

  • 6+ years of mission-critical operations experience.
  • 3+ years leading technical teams in a 24/7 environment.
